'Highlander' was good enough to share another very interesting vid with us, on another thread, and the more I peel back the layers of this, and the NATO actions, the more that this is looking like yet another case of elites in the West, that is not us btw, manipulating events in sovereign lands, up to and including civilian deaths, and the removal of a leader.

If that is what 'democracy' has become, Western style, then I would suggest the democracy, Western style, is one very sick puppy indeed.

The media, and not just the tabloids, they feed us distortions and lies.

An attempt to report is truth is what journalism was meant to be about, but in the 20th century, printed news, and increasingly that on television, it began to turn into the mass media that we see today. A media that serves corporate interests and agendas. A media that can and has brought down the leaders of nations, and replaced them with others, ruined people, not through revealing truth, but with lies.

Look how people were about Y2K.

Jeez, we had supposedly rational people buying into this Apocalyptic idea that the world would somehow go into meltdown, in the year 2000.

And the media had a large hand in that, perpetuating stories, without bothering to check what the facts were. Indeed, the facts would have gotten in the way, as something that headlines 'Y2K - Nothing will really happen', is not likely to turn a dollar, in the same way. Corporate and commercial media, that is what happens with it, in the end. Truth is replaced by rating, facts with distortion.

With the Y2K thing, even Gov's were duped into the vortex of hype, at least some were.

Britain were panicked into spending a large sum, several tens of millions, on 'insuring against the Y2K bug', despite the fact that had they actually looked at the threat, in an cold and objective manner, they would have seen how silly and implausible that flap was.

    Italy spent almost nothing.

Guess what? When 2000 came around, everything went on as it did before, and the media who, for a long time, and in a relentless manner, had been reporting on the 'bug', they tip toed away.

But large numbers of people were fooled into panicking as if something HUGE were going to happen. Maybe it is all a test, just to see how stupid we are, as a collective? So that they know the boundaries of the lies that they can tell?

Col Gadaffi was marketed as a 'brutal dictator', by the West.

Did we ever question how valid that statement was?

    The first comments on the vid, underneath it, I felt that they say a lot;

'how can you call him a dictator? he was using the oil money to pay for his peoples education and used the money from the oil to get water to the desert. he made sure there was free health care and yes unemployment was very low. can you tell me what he did to deserve the name dictator? because from what i have heard form not only th epeople but the rebels themselves that 90 % of th epeople backed ghadafi. why would a people back a dictator when they hvae it so good'

It's always about the resources. Now whoever exploits that better beware -if the people's interests are not looked after, there will be another "revolution".

    Yep OIL.......again.

Sympathy turns into action where oil is involved. In this case, it was European export oil, which explains why the French and Brits were eager to take a leading role.

Humanitarian atrocities are one thing, but don't touch our oil supply.

I don't think it is one nation.

I do know that the French PM publicly declared his fear of the Col creating their own currency, which should obviously not be reason for any sane society to use as an excuse to orchestrate his removal, and death.

It can fairly be argued that Libya was the only nation in Africa with no debt.

Cynically, there are those in the West that profit from the rest of Africa being in debt, and perpetual war. France, again, are among them, but clearly the British and Americans are there too, v much so.

But Libya was self sufficient, and not in debt.

It can also be fairly argued that the Col gave back more to his people than any President or PM, in the US or the UK, when you think about it.

As the comments in the OP suggest, why does he merit the rep of some brutal dictator who kept his people down, when in fact, the TRUTH is that he considered a home as a human right for all of his people, if you wanted to farm, you were given land, and a start, there healthcare was excellent, and free to all, before he came to power, literacy rates in Libya were low. Now they are at 85%. And so on, and so on.

I don't know about you, but I do not like this age that we are living in, an age in which we are being increasingly fed large amount of propaganda, and lies.

I do not like what Europe and the US have become, I feel that we have become something ignoble, something to be hated for our actions, in all parts of the World.

It is really only when you get right into it, you realise that extent that it is.

Indeed, it is almost impossible to measure the degree we are speaking about, it would be like an ant trying to measure an elephant.

I used to wonder, when I was younger, how it felt to be a German, living during the Third Reich, one that knew what was going on, could see it all around, yet could do little to change it?

    Now I know.

I am that 'German' today, if that makes sense?

I feel I am living in the middle of an empire whose actions I cannot approve of, and can only have increasing disgust for.

And yet, I am almost as powerless as the German during the Third Reich would have been.

I see what you're saying, but Nazi Germany's not really a fair analogy.

In this case, we are, as a nation, protecting a resource that allows us ultimate freedom on our highways and in the air.

We have a very practical motive for these international manipulations....our standard of living.

I would liken it instead to Rome. We are much like Roman citizens who are happy to overlook, and not quite mentally digest, "barbarians" being sacked in distant lands because it maintains our wealth and lifestyle. However, we've extended our own resources so far away and gotten so involved externally that the cost to maintain our global reach, influence, and dependence is draining us.

Uninformed people often look at Africa, and wonder why men cannot rise from that region, who put their own people first, and ensure that they are educated, healthy, and self sufficient.

This is not what the West wants, and will not permit it.

Those were the motives, the true motives, to remove the Col.

How could it possibly be anything to do with fraternity for the alleged treatement of protestors, when in fact, some 30,000 Libyans have been killed by NATO strikes? I am quite sure that this is significantly more than the so named 'dictator' was accused of ordering to be shot at, with lethal force.

Time and again we are fed this line about it being for the people.

Only the terminally stupid believe that now, so they may as well stop the pretence, and just admit it.

At least then there would be an ironic honesty to their dishonesty.

An African leader who wants and can make his nation self sufficient, he will be killed by the West, or those they arm and do business with.

France, for example, have a strong relationship with the killer of this man..

The exact accuracy of the analogy is moot.

The point remains - I feel we are living at a point in time, in which we cannot feel proud of what much of the US and Europe have become.

We hear a LOT about the alleged six million Jews that were killed, during WW2. Indeed, no one could be unaware of it, not since writers and film makers realised that there was a very good market for making money from it.

And people all shake their collective heads, while they watch Schindlers List.

But either through weapons, or more subtle means, how many non combatant civilians do you think have been killed in the two invasions of Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Libya? Most those victims were Muslim.

Go do some research on the collective numbers, and you will see that we are living in a time, when our Gov's cause the needless death of one specific group of people, just as the Gov of Germany, albeit they also killed politcal opponents, homosexuals, etc, caused the needless death of one group of given peoples.

I have nothing to say about whether or not Qaddafi was a good leader or if he needed to be removed. But you are correct that the "revolution" in Libya was aided by NATO for reasons other than human rights violations. It is also most likely true that it had to do with Qaddafi attempting to help Africa move to a gold currency, this also disrupts the oil trade since oil is traded in dollars.

This is why many Ron Paul fans support him. We want to be bombed by NATO. lol. This issue also ties into America's Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, although the history books often lean in other directions to explain why the British were intent on maintaining control over America. Unfortunately, those bankers crept back in not through war, but through policy in the early 20th century.

You are not far off the mark.

The similarities are astounding which is why the co-relation of the Weimar Republic are so often brought up in the last few years by many.

Libya was moving towards pricing oil in gold backed dinars instead of US dollars. The banksters controlling the US couldn't allow that as it would seriously weaken the US dollar whose reserve status is the only thing keeping it afloat at the moment.

The JFK thing will forever run, however, I had read some time ago that one of the reasons that he may have been taken out, is that he effectively wanted to nationalise the banks.

It seems hard for people to get it into their head that the elites, the bankers, and their cronies in the media and politics, they are little more than one large criminal mafia. Basically, if you support any of the modern day options in the US or Europe, you are, often unwittingly, helping to keep those criminal mafias alive. That is what they are. The Cosa Nostra, including the Italian American or Sicilian gangs, they wore suits, they drove nice cars, and lived in expensive houses. They took luxury holidays.

They even claimed a sense of morals, respect to their boss, respect to their parents, etc. Not to mention their almost hilarious visits to church, which they took v seriously. They lived off the misery of others, and were responsible for death, yet, like schizophrenia, we have them pretending to be civilised.

The world elites are like that, but more dangerous, and global. Oh, and they are not brought to justice either, since they make the rules.

You could be dead on about the motives for the west getting involved in Libya, but 30,000 casualties due to NATO airstrikes is a little far fetched. No amount of propaganda covers that up.

One thing you can be sure of, death tolls will be altered to suit, by Western media sources, esp those that most run for the benefit of the elites.

It may be 10,000, it may be 30,000, it may be more.

No one can be certain, because the truth is suppressed, and no one does an exact body count.

The official figure that was given for Jews killed in WW2, was settled at six million, which I think did actually get changed to less, at one point.

Then there are those who argue that the figure was substantially less.

But it is moot - the fact is that innocent people died, due to the insane idealogy of the morally bankrupt.

I mean, you need only LOOK at the reaction of Hillary Clinton to see that you are dealing with evil.

Maybe you haven't heard of that thing called the world wide web, where any yahoo with a cell phone can download anything, and make it available to the billion or so people who use the internet. I'm not saying the west's so called humanitarian mission didn't result is civilian casualties, that's highly unlikely. But this day and age, you're not going to hide 10,000 or 30,000 civilian deaths. It's not going to happen.

The operation in Libya is just more British and French imperialism. The world hates the British and French.

The "liberation" rabble that has taken over in Libya has already made it clear that they intend to establish an Islamic Republic based in Sharia Law... probably modelled on the one in Iran. It will be interesting to see how the bankrupt, socialist mudhole that is Europe will deal with having another Islamo-crazy nation on its southern borders, to go along with Tunisia, and Egypt. Especially one that has lots and lots of oil....

It is not the supply that counts, but rather that it continues to be sold in dollars.
