Many cultural centers attacked as well as ANF office in Amsterdam

The ‘revenge’ speeches by Turkish government officials after the loss of soldiers in Çukurca prompted racist fascist groups in Europe as well as in Turkey. While attacks against Kurds are increasing, KON-KURD made a statement on attacks in Europe and called on all Kurds and their allies to protect their institutions and to defend themselves.

KON-KURD urged European states to fulfill their duty and act with more responsibility in ensuring the security of life and property of Kurdish associations, craftsmen and individuals.

Fascist groups made an attempt to attack Kurdish associations in France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Netherlands.

A group of ‘fascist gangs’ organized a march against Kurds in the German capital, Berlin. While the group was met with the resistance of Kurdish demonstrators who were supported by German anti-fascist groups, democrats and leftist citizens, a clash broke out between two groups in Hermannplatz and many people from both sides were reported injured or detained.

One other attack was made in Hagen city where about 300 fascist people blockaded the Kurdish association and attempted to lynch the people in the building.

Another racist group in Hamburg attempted to assault the Kurdish Association and shopkeepers in Hamburg. Clashes broke out when the group was blockaded by Kurdish young demonstrators who also prevented the police from entering the building.

The Kurdish Culture Association in Amsterdam was also attacked by fascist groups. While three Kurds in the building were injured during the attack, the demonstration of fascist groups lasted till late hours at night.

A conflict broke out between Turkish nationalists and Kurds in Basel city of Switzerland, two people were reported injured.

The Kurdish association in Mulhouse city of France was also attacked and damaged by a fascist group the day before, association directors remarked that the Turkish consulates in Europe give directions for the attacks.
