Feds vs. states battle over pot lining up...

Historic Marijuana Vote Pits States Against US Government
November 16, 2012 WASHINGTON — Federal officials have been mostly mute on ballot initiatives legalizing marijuana in the election on November 6. Laws passed in Colorado and Washington will take time to implement. State legislatures must determine the rules for sales, distribution and taxation. Former federal drug officials say the ballot initiatives, which contradict federal law, will be short lived.

    1. Yes. There is no logical or moral reason to oppose medical marijuana.
    2. No, because:
    3. I support full legalization.
    4. Yes, tax it. Just like we tax tobacco and alcohol.
    5. It's time to admit that the drug war is a complete and utter failure.

This is the ONE area I will advocate government absolutism. Your brain is your existence. It deserves nurture to its full potential, and this is only possible without drugs.

    http://eazysmoke.com/marijuana-quotes.htm

"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this."
    - Albert Einstein quote on Hemp"

are you sure he did not live up to his full potential? maybe marijuana even helped him reach that potential...

..... looking in a mirror wondering if he would be able to see his reflection if he was going the speed of light..... hmmmm I wonder

The drug war has been an abysmal failure. People who want to use drugs are going to use them, legal or not. People who don't want to use them (like me) aren't going to suddenly start using them if they become legal.

The question isn't "Can we stop people from using drugs?" Quite clearly, we can't. The question is "Are we going to continue to waste vast amounts of money and manpower in a vain attempt to stop them?"

Do you think the alcoholics would be in a better condition if they did not abuse alcohol?

ALL RECREATIONAL DRUGS puts a person in a much worse, different condition.

There is something such as the "living death". If you can prevent a person from making the bad decisions that will destroy their body, brain, lungs, kidneys... IT IS TANTAMOUNT TO SAVING THEIR LIFE.

I view all of you idiots (NO OFFENSE, PLEASE) as dumb little children. You deserve my care!! I will transform you from a pathetic little imp, into a true king in realization of your full potential. It will not be pleasant. It will not be easy, but if you will accept the offer, YOU WILL THANK ME. All people who are saved become to recognize the magnitude of their safety.

Yes, but it's none of my business what they do unless I am their parent or God.

It's fine that you care enough about people that you want them to eat good food and be healthy, but why do you feel you have the right to dictate someone's life and choices to them? Who are you to complete strangers to have this power?

Let's ban sleep while we are at it. It is an altered state of consciousness that reduces productivity, leaves us vulnerable to attack and robbery... it is a SCOURGE on our society!

Tell you what Marshal... you Zosiasmom and I will go out in the woods and drop DMT and I will show you the way and the light.. expand your consciousness... bring you closer to man... and the lard.

America has enough problems without becoming a pothead nation. The war on drugs is a just war.

The one thing about the war on drugs that potheads dont understand is it isnt being fought. Potheads like to point out that it hasnt been won and is therefore a failure, but it isnt being enforced. So whether i agree with the war or not (i lean towards not) you cannot really say it is a failure.

What we have learned from this thread is that a few 17 year-olds and a 33-year old girl are wrong.

did prohibition stop abuse of alcohol? or did it just make criminals of people that did not abuse?

the abuse exists either way... that is what some refuse to see

Alcohol abuse increased dramatically after and since prohibition ended.

Thats what you failed to mention.

    hmm, this is also true...

drug abuse increased dramatically after and since drug prohibition started.

with prohibition though, you take a nice family drinking wine with dinner, arrest them for nothing more then drinking wine with dinner, give them a criminal record, prohibition is a gateway to crime for many

remember, the abuse is there legal or not, just one makes criminals of those that did not abuse
