    Battlefield 3 and Skyrim.

    BF3 is (*)(*)(*)(*)ing intense.

Skyrim is just plain awesome, like the other Elder Scroll games.

I am "El Presidente" - a ruthless, but benevolent, dictator who is loved by his people.

At least the ones that I haven't sent off to the "reeducation camps". :D

I think that the final fantasy series is still the best.

I know, Tropico 4 came out at the end of August.

I usually wait about 4-6 months after release date before I buy a game - by then all the good cheat codes have been published, and enough people have played the game that if I get hung-up on something I can usually find information online about how to proceed.

Plus - the games are usually on-sale for about 1/2 of their original release price. :)

PC based flight sims, and not the childish "arcadey" crapola like the console based Ace Combat.
Sims with flight physics programmed into the simulator that accurately reflect the operating characteristics of a particular aircraft.
For example if a Cessna 172 stalling speed is 44KIAS clean..it's in the game.

    Go real or go home.

I'm playing the same ones. Well, I was playing BF3 until Skyrim came out and I probably won't visit BF3 for a while now. Both are really awesome games, but Skyrim is more my type. I've been a huge fan of the series since Daggerfall.

That post was just a joking suggestion.:)

I've been playing Modern Warfare 3. I have played BF3 before during Beta testing and it was pretty kick ass.

Finally sat down this past weekend and tried to play a recent PC game purchase
IL-2 Sturmovik "Battle of Britain - Cliffs of Dover"

The game is buggy as heck, severe lag time on multi-player and loads of patches will be needed to get it to perform with a smooth frame rate.
I try on-line and though the multi-player is capable of handling an epic 128 players at a time...3 people were on-line at the time I logged in. Not much fun.

The game needs some work, decent graphics, the audio is horrendous...but one cool feature
is the ability to make movies of gameplay and edit them to your liking with movie making software. Not there yet in terms of figuring out that feature but here's a great movie made by someone else from actual gameplay and edited with after effects. Very professional looking, could pass for a game trailer.

The soundtrack is from another game, Total War: Rome.

    Here's a link to it.

Sat down again this afternoon to try out an hour or so of IL-2 Cliffs of Dover (Battle of Britain). A few more people onIine this time. I know the popularity of the Modern Warfare franchise, Guitar Hero and WIii...let alone silly stuff (to me anyway) like World of Warcraft, but this PC game let's the user create movies from the game play and edit adding a soundtrack and effects. It's an awesome feature as I'm a film buff of the war genre. You can create your own aerial combat scenes. Here's a short clip of a movie created by another user, from actual game play. Now does this kick ass or what...

Will Battlefield 3 play with an AMD Athlon II X2 processor? I've heard it's a good game but I have doubts if I can play it.

If it'll run it I imagine it'll take about 5 hours to load each map.

Skyrim and Cod atm. Loving both. Might go and play some Skyrim now actually. I've noticed I'm becoming very picky about games. Unless they are the best of the best I just dont care anymore. Guess I'm growing out of them. I dont think I'll ever get sick of shooting my friends on cod though haha

    Bumping an older thread.

Getting more folks on-line with this and looking forward to a Saturday night devoted to multi-player.

Found another youtube clip that gives a sense of the impressive graphics and gameplay...this is a sim game also, so "flying" the aircraft is more complicated than the rudimentary joystick approach typical in arcadey console games. While it is strictly entertainment, it's an impressive game as the vast majority of us will never know the real life experience of piloting WWII era aircraft. Extreme attention to detail in the cockpit layout with functional gauges and controls that incorporate realism in the flight physics.
The damage modeling is also impressive, as is the lighting and shadow effects. Lots of bugs, nowhere near perfect, but hopefully downloadable patches will eventually smooth out the frame rate.
