Exactly. This was brought to congress by republicans, but I bet there won't be one peep from the left that this is a good thing.

Still waiting for the occu-turds to begin protesting over the corruption in politics.

Why should Congress be allowed to exempt themselves from the odious laws that pass for the rest of us? I think every law should apply to Congress, congressmen, and their aides. And every government "program" we are forced into should also see Congressmen forced to participate.

....and into prison by a jury of their peers.

The "new media/information age" inspired manifestation of Tea Parties is ample evidence that consensus is building....

the priviledged, corrupt, "seperate and unequal" existence our representatives have afforded themselves...

    is in the crosshairs.

One would think an overwhelming majority of the OWS crowd would be firmly onboard...but most seem to be distracted (purposely) to direct their angst and ire at the results of horrendously corrupt, unaccountable, unconstitutional federal governance....

and the reason, IMO, can be summed up in this way....

fulfilling leftist agenda REQUIRES authoritarian central planning... and those willing to further corrupt the Constitution to deliver it.

In other words, "means to an end"....morality, ethics, honesty, lawfulness...

    be... d a m n e d.

    House passes insider trading bill
February 09, 2012 | The House passed a bill banning Congress and executive branch officials from insider trading, but brushed aside a provision aimed at reining in those who pry financial information from Congress and sell it to investment firms.

I'm sure they can find plenty of other legal ways to line their pockets.

I don't even understand the bill. Insider trading is illegal. So how were they getting away with it anyway? Did they pass some bill allowing it? Not that I would be shocked.

The worst part is that it is not just insider trading.

I watched not long ago a special on this very subject, and one of the examples was a politician who bought acres land in the middle of nowhere for like $500,000...waited about a year, then pushed through zoning through his position....and sold it off for double.

John Kerry and others were cited in that report for using insider knowledge for financial gains. R's and D's. Dirty dogs that they all are.

I heard that. I just don't know how it was legal given that it's illegal for everyone else. I never got an explanation for how they were able to do it. But I know this: If that book never came out exposing them Congress would not be doing an f-ing thing about it.

Heh. Truth for sure. Nobody is gonna have a best seller for what the next shifty trick is up their sleeve...but I don't imagine it would be a small amounts of hits to it on the internet..since the feckless media won't do their job.

Well, the insider trading thing did hit 60 minutes. Which, of course, is why there is a bill now. Naturally, while they were doing it they were fine with it.
