So, I told my parents my plans for my 21st birthday. Since I do not drink, I plan to buy this instead: [IMG]

Springfield Armory 1911 .45 Range Officer

What you think? Also, here is what my father has:

    Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum

I really hope they don't try to change the law, I want to get my License To Carry as soon as I turn 21 lol.

Ayuh,... The .45acp is a mighty fine weapon, I've got 1...
It's abit bulky for a carry gun, as mine is the 5" barrel...

    Btw,... yer pictures ain't workin'...

I prefer the S&W M&P45 but that is just because I'm a leftie and desire a ambidextrous pistol.

Sorry about pictures. I am just wondering how will be best to carry. I honestly thought you could have a holster in sight, but apparently that's brandishing. I think I'm going to get a shoulder holster, because I wear flannel button up shirts a lot anyways.

Depends on your state, but open carry should be legal.

Tennessee it is I think. That means you can have a side holster in sight?

Yes, open carry is open and within view.

I am not sure about your state, check your state laws. I know that here in Colorado you can open carry a handgun at 18, but concealed carry at 21.

That being said, open carry makes little sense for self-defense. The advantage comes from keeping the weapon out of sight and out of mind. A visible firearm could put a target on your back, and in a life threatening situation you could one of the first to go, along with the security guards.

Yea, that does make sense. I think I'll keep trying to think about the shoulder holster idea lol.

Yeah, either that or a paddle holster.

Shoulder holsters irritate me, could be a poorly fitted holster, but they flop around too much.
What I do like are the elastic form fitting holsters, much easier to manage. If I wear a dark over shirt, I can CCW without any indication of a presence of the handgun.

I just need to get a smaller handgun. <_<

Well, I just really want a .45, it has power, and I can get 10 round clips for it. I do not like the idea of a 9mm, just...idk. I prefer power. I think if I get a shoulder holster I would make it where I had a second strap below it going around my stomach to hold it down.

Another thought, the S&W M&P45 is about the same width as a .45, but you can get 10rd. and 14rd. mags for it.

At the moment mine has 951rds. through it, a vast majority were the filthy "TulAmmo", and zero cleaning. Zero failures. Not even a single failure to feed or failure to eject. 49 more rounds and I will clean it and send Smith and Wesson a nice email. lol

I use Horandy Critical Defense. Should a thread be wearing a heavy jacket, the bullets possess a polymer tip to prevent the hollow point from becoming plugged and failing to expand.

.45's are nice and so are 9mm's, but I prefer my CZ-75B in .4o S&W, it's my best compromise....

.40S&W's are sort of the middle ground between 9mm and .45ACP.

.40S&W, from what I have seen, is actually ballistically superior to the .45ACP.

The 40 is a hot round for sure, but I don't care for the muzzle flip. And while the 40 may expand, the 45 sure isn't going to shrink! I'm strictly a 45 acp man, I know it hurts the glock boys but perfection was created in 1911...

I carried a S&W Pro Series sub compact 1911 for awhile and was very impressed, out of 1000 rounds I only encountered 7 malfunctions, all of which where FTF. Thats pretty impressive for a 3 inch 1911. This would be a gun well worth a look for every day carry.

Take a look at what happened to him, You Tube Erie Parties /Joel Atkin. Below the video is a link to Facebook this is where you will see the papers supporting my questions. If you would have questions after checking out the two sites send to as many people as you can. Thank You and God Bless! Stay Safe!

    Hi-power

I think it's safe to say Mr.Browning was a genius!!!!!

Wished he could have lived to see the completion and success of the hi-power.

Interestingly, some of the prototypes for the Hi-power were in 9.8mm, which is essentially .40.

I think I'm gonna stick with the classic 1911 look lol. I hope it is small enough to Carry, but if not, I'll look into something else. I really do not want a 9mm though.

    Also, nice rifle. 5.56?
