After reading many of the posts in these forums I just come away shaking my head. I can't get over the fear, loathing and paranoia expressed by many posters here. Most come from America. The fear, loathing and paranoia are expressed in a huge range of subjects. Liberalism, communism, socialism, collectivism. The left, the right, the centre, the little bit left of centre, the little right of centre. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Atheism, I don't give a sh!t about religionism. Blacks, whites, Asians, Middle Easterners, Mexicans, Australians, Brits, New Zealanders and any minority you can poke a stick at. China, Europe, the Middle East and anything not American. Universal healthcare, unions, gun laws, anti-gun laws, the minimum wage, worker's rights, women's rights, gay rights. Teachers, scientists, lawyers, the medical profession, the media. The poor, the rich, the guy in the middle. The uneducated, the under-educated, the over educated. McDonalds, KFC, Vegemite. Metric measurements, the European motor industry, the American motor industry. The USD, the Renminbi, the Euro, the Yen and Shekels. The American dream has burst into a cloud fear, loathing and paranoia.
None of all that is going to matter when Obama has the government come to take away all your guns. And if you don't give them up without a fight then his drones are coming to finish you off. This is one 'black' president who means business!
Lunatics shouldn't own guns. I'm glad there's somebody in the White House who is finally willing to take a stand against anti-government radicals. I just wish he'd do more instead of being so lame.
People railing about collectivism crack me up. They don't seem to see that they themselves live in a collective way of thinking.
Many Americans like myself realize that change is not only inevitable but it can be good. To be stuck in the past is to lose that adventurous spirit that has made America so great. Much of the angst that I see come from Christians who are starting to realize that American is not a Christian Nation. Christians can place God above Government all they want... but it is the Government... represented by the Left, the Right, the Center, the faithful and the faithless, who decide what is best for all Americans... not just what is best for Christians.
Not at all. I would like nothing more than the fear to end. There is so much paranoia about what the Feds, or the NWO or whatever group is going to enslave the public. It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard and there is an entire industry of fear built around it... people profiting off of the fears of others. The NRA is probably the biggest culprit.
In order for him to do more he's going to need more support of the people. He tells you that with his push to bring about some meaningful change in the gun laws already. He's spearheaded it but it's going to take your congress to bring it to fruition. Your congressmen and women fear the gun lobby and so the system can't work in the way it was designed to work. It's the same with all the other issues.
Never give anything to Washington. You can't negotiate anything with them. It's not like they are a local business you can boycott if things go sour.
Well that's the thing, they have less spare time than the rest of the West and far far more paranoia. - - - Updated - - - And just to illustrate the point made by the OP. Paranoia, fear and racism.... all in 3 lines!
