It's sad, really. California is such a beautiful state. I was born, raised and lived there for 30 years. I've been watching liberalism destroy California's business climate and finances with outrageous spending and horrible priorities. Of course, liberals will blame it all on Proposition 13. However, rest assured that if offered the opportunity to pay higher property taxes, these same liberals will suddenly become silent on the issue- well, that or they'll start the usual complaining about "the rich".

    But I digress...

California's population has been in overall decline since 1990. Businesses are leaving California in droves. Illegal immigration is costing California $10 billion per year(more on that in a minute). The state is bleeding and starving for cash. California has a ton of problems, and we all know liberals have been running the show there for decades. And to top it off, while facing huge, surmounting problems like these, the state legislature has time to make sure children are indoctrinated about homosexuals and transsexuals? And they wonder why the state is in trouble?

But back to the major issues. While California gets soaked with high illegal immigration costs every year, employers are banned from using e-verify.

And as the productive people defect the Republikkk for freedom, Jerry Brown hits up the remaining people for nearly $7 billion in new taxes.

And now, Jerry Brown is ignoring the findings of the state's panel on the financial viability of liberals' high-speed rail pipe dream. The panel finds that the money pit, er, high-speed rail will cost TRIPLE the previous estimate of $33 billion- an already insanely high cost for a service that I'm willing to bet a month's pay will take millions if not billions in more government subsidies to keep in operation.

At a time when California already faces grim results of its past decisions, Jerry Brown now wants to stay the course with a project likely to be three times the original cost. And there's certainly precedent to believe that there will be HUGE cost overruns.

This potential and probable $66 billion mistake may very well be the last nail in the coffin of California. But hey, no doubt the bribes, kickbacks and payoffs are already in place, so this is no time to turn back now, right?

    Thanks a lot, Governor Moonbeam.

I can only take solace in the fact that my prop 13 home is bought and paid for and my property taxes are around $500 a year, thanks Howard Jarvis. In addition right now I make so little money, I get back every penny I pay in. Stick that where the sun don't shine Mr. Brown.

That is fantastic. I hope you are in a position to protect yourself as best you can from the state government there.

It is a wonderful place to live, despite Jerry Brown's attempts to destroy the state.

History suggests Cali will ultimately require a border fence and armed patrols....

    not to keep people out....
but to keep the producer class in.

And to think- California's government is a shining example of what liberals want to do to, er, for the rest of our country.

The rest of the country doesn't seem to care at all the gerrymandering that takes place in California putting the liberals in control for many many years, rendering the votes made by conservatives of no consequence. I can't wait for the Liberals in Washington to bailout their marxist buddies controlling California with tax dollars from the rest of the country. Maybe then they will care if our votes count or not.

I've been wondering if we'll see a call to bail out California. It certainly wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Ace, in 2006 there were 183 state house seats up for re-election, not one single one changed the butt sitting in it. What are the chances of that in the real world? That's like picking 183 numbers at Keno and having all 183 come up at once.

Any rational person would say at the least, the deck is extremely stacked. And I'm certain I'm being quite generous to those incumbents with that assertion.

You are 100% correct, sir. And sadly, there are plenty of sucker states that want to follow the shining example of California's government.

I'm constantly amazed by the disconnect between residents and government there. But then again, the circles I run in when I visit California are good, decent and honest working people who simply want to raise their families and enjoy life. That probably makes me a complete freak in liberal circles.
