Ron Paul wants freedom from this oppressive government. He is one of the few who is standing against the NDAA.

Of course when this bill gets shot down in Congress, the media will spin it to be an example of how Paul is "incapable of bipartisan compromise".

Why is this in Elections and Campaigns? It should be in the Current Events section.

Did PAUL sponsor a bill condemning the Presidents refusal to allow the Keystone pipeline ?

Paul could have made a difference by doing THAT.

    Now the real question ?
    WHY DIDN'T HE ?

The pipeline is a much lesser issue compared to the suspension of the right to due process.

Civil liberties should take precedence above all other concerns.

No.. Battles that can be won ..should be fought.
    Those that cant shouldn't..
Paul will never get support in Congress as usual..It is another straw deal.

What kind of logic is that? With that thinking, the unconstitutional bills will keep coming and personal liberties will keep being taken away. The battles that need to be fought are the most important ones, regardless of how difficult.

It depends... When the NDAA was being discussed in Congress, an amendment to remove the indefinite detention clause was pushed forward and had more support than the final opposition to the bill had.

With as much bad press that has resulted from this debacle, I would think several politicians would be willing to score some easy points by passing a repeal of this section.

They really have everything to gain and nothing to lose by passing it.
