The Arab league couldn't fix it. Syria will never fix it. People will keep dying, ultimately leading to them being suppressed again.

Sometimes, we need to say "**** sovereignty" and put a foot in. Using Russia and China's logic, we can never do anything in any other country, unless it is a threat to our own.

B**** to that, I don't wish to see people die needlessly.

I am concerned. Concerned that this is going to become a potentially tense issue, concerned that Syria will see this as an opportunity to just increase the violence and concerned that China and Russia have shown such solidarity.

Surely we are better than this?

What do you think China and Russia's motives are behind this veto?

They don't want to lose an ally in the region, and weaken Iran. Russia would lose it's military base, and billions in weapons deals, China goes along because it's doesn't want Iran to be taken out, and it losing large amount of oil and the price going up, a high fuel price will hurt China as much as anybody. And this will not be a no fly zone, there would be no point, it would be Turkey and Arab nation invading Syria to get rid of Assad, maybe NATO would help, but Russia could also play a part.

That's not the reason.. China buys MORE oil from Saudi Arabia than from Iran.

    There is that....

.... or maybe, now, China and Russia are starting to worry. Worry that their own apparently corrupt regimes, which have seen uprisings themselves, will be next?

I am not saying that they would ever shoot at or harm their own civvies, but they will ignore them. And I am also not saying the UN would do much about uprisings in these countrys, it couldn't/wouldnt.

Over the last year the world has changed massively due to revolution. Perhaps we are seeing the push towards a true world democracy? Perhaps this scares some states and they dont wish to start sounding hypocritical to their own people?

Its inevitable. They know that... but they no doubt wish to let it drag out for as long as possible.

Russia is becoming more westernised and from what I have seen, they like it. China will not work for $1 an hour for much longer. Commies, regardless of what you call yourself... beware!

Let Syrians kill off each other if they want. It really doesn't impact us at all and they will emerge from the violence eventually.

The position of the Syrian resolution of the two permanent members of UN Security Council - Russia and China - is quite justified.

First, in the country from the very beginning there have been military actions against the government. U.S. has given arms and pushed the terrorist so-called opposition to the armed overthrow of the legitimate authority.

Second. In the U.S. and Western media are absolutely biased position taken unilaterally introducing what is happening in Syria as a military suppression of peaceful demonstrations seeking democracy. Meanwhile, on the side of the leadership of Bashar Assad is a significant, if not most of the population.

Third. Russia has offered his services to organize talks between the Syrian government and the opposition sane. Were rejected by all the numerous attempts to negotiate an end to the bloodshed. fatal role was played from the tips of Washington.

Fourth. As events in Libya, the resolution could be used for armed intervention in Syria. More recently, the U.S. asked Russia not to veto the UN resolution on Libya, presenting it only as a requirement for closing the skies over the country. Then the UN resolution was used directly for the capture of Libya, the U.S. and its vassals to gain access to oil.

In Syria, there is no "peaceful demonstrators", and there are terrorist gangs armed and directed from the United States.

The purpose of the U.S. and its vassals to overthrow the legitimate government of Syria.

Russia said NO to the American invasion of Syria, and prepared a lot of different surprises for Americans.

Moreover, a favorable scenario, as many of these surprises is that the U.S. invasion bogged down even before the start, since we left the enemy to retreat without losing face, so he did not feel pushed into a corner and had no desire to appear to fight to the last drop of blood, for unknown whose it might be that last straw.

Pull up your zipper Ivan. You folks are foolish in your search for enemies. The world has changed. America is the least of Russia's problems.
