What do you suppose it would be like if we had a president from Chicago? From this political culture of corruption? What if this president said he'd have the most transparent admin ever? Would it be that way? Would he be truthful? Would time bear him out to be an honest and sincere man? What would be the impact of such a politician in high office, on America?
How can that be? Barak Obama left there three years ago and I thought he took all the corrupt people with him to Washington.. Wait....a few went back. Yeah, I do recall that like 40 people quit him and went back. So that's why I guess.
Yes indeed. Two great presidents. Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan....Lincoln before the corruption of course since the first case cited above came six years after he was dead.. And Reagan wasn't there very long. And while we're being irrelevant to the topic, did you know that Richard Nixon was the first President born in California?
I suggest reading - The Jungle - by Upton Sinclair. It is one of the best books written about Chicago and corrupt aldermans.Of course just watching - The Untouchables - with Elliot Ness is also good.
I didn't know that about Nixon but in related news, have you seen how fat Christina Aguilera is getting? My God she used to be HOT!!!
Nixon's mother was a Saint. They'll never write a book about his Mother. J.F.K. called Nixon a " 2-bit grocery clerk from Whittier ".
I think if you watched the Oliver Stone movie - Nixon - with Anthony Hopkins playing Tricky Dick you might see him in a far different light. Nixon worked really hard as a Politician. He was a fighter. Elvis Presley liked him.Musta been a good reason.
Sorry but I don't get my information from watching Hollywood movies. I prefer to look at primary source documents and make up my own mind.
You make a good point. I was throwing tear gas back at the National Guard when he was elected. Most of us then saw him as a lateral move from LBJ. I became a journalist during his tenure and got to read the news bulletin that he had resigned. My boss told me he had never heard me so happy on the air. History will paint a different picture than simply Watergate. And in retrospect, Viet Nam was a Boy Scout outing compared to what Bush and Obama have pulled off, not one, but two wars without reason nor objective. And in those days people got court martialed for torturing combatants; now we torture US citizens. That's progress Yep, I have called Richard Nixon far worse than slime. But compared to what we have today....? At least the economy was booming and HIS vice President was (*)(*)(*)(*) faced drunk only part of the time.
Hmmm And if you read some of the more non partisan stuff you might know "Jack" for what he was: an incompetent liar and whore monger who liked to play chicken with people's lives.
