More job loss, more bailouts, more stimulus, more decline of the USA economy, and the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. IOW business as usual.

Republicans will take over the WH and both houses of Congress. Serious cuts to govt depts and programs will be done. The tax code wil;l be thrown out and a new lower rate code put in but without all the deductions and loopholes. obamacare WILL be repealed. Insane new financial regulations will be repealed as well. Plus many other regulations will be repealed. Businesses will increase hiring, coupled with new taxes and reduced spending the deficit will be greatly reduced. And the USA will be back on the path of being the world leader.

Those that have lived their lives avoiding personal responsibility will have a bad time as the pendulum swings back toward personal responsibility and away from the rewarding of mediocrity.

Seems to me that you are promoting another US meltdown, even before having recovered from the last GOP fiasco.

When he is returned in November he should continue doing what he has been doing. The more screams from the right, the better it will be for the US in the long rum.

As an be seen from the present GOP push for the Presidency, none of them have an inkling, concentrating instead on subjects like abortion, as if that were the means of getting the economy back on track.

When the Republicans lost control of both Houses of congress for FY 2008 is WHEN our economic meltdown and insane fiscal irresponsibility BEGAN.

Republicans in charge of Congress FY2007. Revenue $2,568.0 trillion. The highest ever. Deficit $160.7 billion. Lower by over $1,100 TRILLION than ANY recent Democrat deficit.

TOTAL increase in the national debt under EIGHT YEARS of Bush, $4.9 TRILLION. Total increase in the national debt under THREE YEARS of obama and Democrats, $4.7 TRILLION. obie and the Democrats will surpass the total debt increase of Bush by APRIL of this year. MOST likely, NEXT MONTH!

The causes of the economic meltdown can be traced back to Jimmy Carter's presidency. Bush did not do enough to stop it, but he was hamstrung by Democrats, and obama has never had an inkling of a clue of how to help the free market as he has been taught all his life to HATE the free market.

History will find that obama is clearly, without a doubt, and by a WIDE margin, the worst president in the history of the USA. He simultaneously has been the most incompetent and the most dishonest president ever.

Deficits increase when there is a recession.

If you don't like the deficit, call your Tea Party representative in congress and tell them to compromise and raise taxes on a budget deal.

Otherwise you're just flapping your gums as a hypocrite.

There have been many premature reports of our demise. Actual rational, intelligent thinkers know better. We have been "FINISHED" every 20 to 50 years since day one. All we do is set the standard for the world. You don't have to like the standard we set, you just have to live by it.

In MY lifetime, we were all done in WWII, but we won it instead. We were finished by communism and union troubles in the fifties. We were coming apart with anti-war protesters in the 60's. An insane interest rate and inflation coupled with a severe recession in the 80's And all our recent troubles. We can and will survive an ideological idiot like obama just as we have survived and prospered through all our troubles.

You can bluster as much as you like but this time the money has run out. You don't come back from that with a flourish. If it took nearly 30 years to reach the position the US now finds itself in, it will take much longer to recover from it.

Actually just 11 years ago the biggest budget problem we had was whether the surpluses would be too big.

The problems are readily fixable. We just need representatives and leaders who will compromise to get it done.

Well, GOP President will not be able to do anything without both houses of congress. The reality is that Congresses aproval rating is lower than it has ever been. People are not happy with the last class of reps and are not going to overwhelmingly hand the patter to the GOP.

This means that if the GOP wins the Presidency, they will be doing it without both houses. That means that the Democrats will start playing the same little B.S. games the GOP is playing. Both parties will always put party politics over the needs of the country.

I am a Democrat that believes that we need DO need to change things up. We can't keep spending and spending the way we have. We need to increase the retirement age for help SS, overhaul Medicare and Medicaid and cut spending until it hurts. However, we also need to cut military spending just as much. We need to stop oil subsidies to companies that already make record profits every quarter. However, I can't see any of the current GOP canidates willing to really make any real changes. Electing Mitt is like electing President Obama for a second term, so you might as well elect the real thing not some caucasian version.

The country can move ahead and perhaps heal from some of the damage done. It would be nice to see the U.S. respected by our allies again and see Americans who are proud of their country working again. You know, the enemies of the current regime.

Well, the World respects the U.S. already and about half of us are already proud of their country.

and yet you want to continue the nanny state that has ruled this country for the last thirty years...

if there is no more money as you claim, please explain how we are supposed to fund this continuation? and please...don't haul out the ol "well the rich people need to pay more"; we could confiscate every DIME of the rich and not pay off our debt, let alone fund this joyride you Democrats have us on.

the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Democrats keep going back to the same well over and over, entitlements! more entitlements!

it hasn't worked, and it won't.

I would say we need representatives that legislate on what is good for the COUNTRY instead of what is good for their party or their state or THIS subgroup of the population or THAT group of 'special needs' constituants.

You are correct. Increasing the taxes on the rich will not really help. This is especially true if spending continues out of control. What we need is true tax reform. This means finding a way to get everyone to pay taxes. However, the amount paid should be increased the more you make due to the fact that 20% tax on the poor makes more of an impact than 20% on millionaires.

With that said, The Republicans also keep doing the same thing over and over. "Trickle Down" "Trickle Down"! The Republicans are correct in saying that decreasing taxes on the wealthy CAN bring in more money, but there is a threshold where that stops being true. If we had a 60% tax on the highest income bracket then we could lower taxes and and bring in more income. However, when taxes for the top bracket hits around 40% (just a number, "Not meant to be taken as a factual statement") you actualy start to lose income to the government. Supply-side economics does not work. We had decades of proof with Republican Presidents that show that money does not trickle down. If you want a strong economy, it is not the rich that need breaks, but the middle to upper-middle Class.

Mitt would cut taxes. Obama would raise them. You can do the math on the effect on the deficits.
