Should we have to conform society? What is benefits of conforming society?

Should we behave in a way that other people think is correct or suitable?

Why should anybody conform? Mohamud didn't. He was a pedophile.

    What an insightful comment :bored:

In the end we all conform to a degree it's called a persona. It is how you present yourself to certain people because that is how you want them to interrupt you.

The benefits are inherently determined by you but usually we want others to relate to us for further social interaction. People need to socialize somehow finding a society or sub culture where we can is necessary to a healthy mind.

I do not know whether Mohammad conformed or not. But I am not Muslim. Therefore I do not get angry, or upset, or mad at your post.

Who is "we"? One's decision on whether or not to conform to society is a personal decision more than a group decision.

Also, conforming to society isn't a single act. One can conform to society in many ways and not conform in others. There are repercussions for one's actions just like in every other facet of life.

If one is going to dress differently or get a full body tattoo when the rest of society thinks that is odd, one should not expect acceptance by society in general. There will always be subcultures where the differences are accepted if not outright celebrated, but one shoudn't expect the same treatment as the guy with no tattoos, the standard haircut and the "normal" clothes.

In other words, the more you conform, the more acceptance you have and the more doors are opened to you. The more you differentiate yourself from society, the less acceptance you will have and more doors will be closed to you. For some this is an unacceptable tradeoff. They should conform. For others it is acceptable and they can (and usually do) differentiate themselves.

You can also take it too far. Often times society sets boundaries around actions via laws. Don't want to conform to society by following the posted speed limits? OK. But expect a fine or jail time if caught. Think society's rules aren't for you and you can take whatever you want? Better get use to conforming to life in prison. You get the idea.
