In keeping with the long-standing Leftninny/Alinski tactic of just making up whatever bullcrap you want to pretend is true, Pres. Obama used a completely made-up quote that he attributed to Republican President Rutherford B. Hayes, claiming Hayes asked who "would ever use" the telephone; in fact hayes was the FIRST POTUS TO INSTALL A TELEPHONE in the WHITE HOUSE:

President Obama unjustly criticized a dead Republican president — Rutherford B. Hayes — by putting words in Hayes’ mouth that he never uttered.

Obama, speaking about his energy policies at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Md., said:

Obama, March 15: There always have been folks who are the naysayers and don’t believe in the future, and don’t believe in trying to do things differently. One of my predecessors, Rutherford B. Hayes, reportedly said about the telephone, “It’s a great invention, but who would ever want to use one?” (Laughter.) That’s why he’s not on Mt. Rushmore — (laughter and applause) — because he’s looking backwards. He’s not looking forwards. (Applause.)

Actually, as New York Magazine‘s Daily Intel blog and others were quick to point out, Hayes never said that. In fact, Hayes was the first president to have a telephone in the White House. It was one of the earliest telephones anywhere in the nation’s capital:

Of course, Obama, and the rest of the Leftlemmings NEVER let the actual Truth get in the way of the Agenda, do they?

Yup! That's our brilliant POTUS for all the world to see. He's not one to let the facts get in the way of his story telling......... what an embarrassment!

It appears Obama wouldn't know the truth if it jumped up and bit him on the privates.

This has got to be the stupidest, pettiest attack on Obama yet.

He recounts a widely told story about Hayes as a *metaphor* to illustrate how Republicans are behaving.

You guys jump on him because some scholars think the story is apocryphal.

OMG! Obama repeated a widely believed story about a president most people know nothing about! He must be a liar!!!

Never mind that the criticism does nothing to rebut the point he was making.

Nothing more than the left did to Bush for 8 years. Remember the endless prattle over his pronunciation of "Nuclear"?

If it was an obscure little known story why did he use it. It's all political. It is his goal to cover up his own inadequacies by attacking the right with any little fabricated fallacy. It's nothing to him. the media certainly won't come down on him.

    Overblown. Shame on you, Grok.

At least he knows there's 58 states.

Clearly, holding Obama to ANY standard is Racist.

Of course. Liberals think Obama doesn't need a boat to cross a body of water.
