The following appeared at the beginning of a thread: 'Do not come into this thread if you are going to say something nasty and hateful. That's not what this thread is about. Two such hate-filled threads have already been deleted. Please have some respect----or simply stay out of the thread if you cannot. Thank you...' http://www.politicalforum.com/1061062777-post1.html Are others allowed to set strict limits on thread content that they create (like 'no negative/disrespectful posts allowed - either stay on topic or stay out of this thread') and have the mods erase posts/parts of posts that do not meet that criteria? Or do only mods (like the one who started the above thread) get that privilege?
No one is meant to march into a thread and say hateful things. Those comments are usually deleted as trolling. The warning given was simply a reminder, given that two threads were already deleted due to nastiness from members.
So, please, is that a 'yes' or a 'no' to the above question: 'Are others allowed to set strict limits on thread content that they create (like 'no negative/disrespectful posts allowed - either stay on topic or stay out of this thread') and have the mods erase posts/parts of posts that do not meet that criteria?'
are you still ticked because i said Dick Cheney needed a heart transplant a long time ago? he has! he's had a bad ticker since before he took the VP nomination in 2000.
Ok, thank you. Additionally, why was my Dick Cheney thread deleted? I simply stated he had a heart transplant and I made a negative comment about him. But the rules state: 'Attacks directed towards politicians, public figures, political groups, etc. are allowed,' Cheney IS DEFINITELY a public figure. So why was my thread deleted?
Your first post in that thread (the OP) was fine. It was your second post: That was completely out of line. That is flamebait of the worst kind, and I support the thread deletion.
And btw - for the record - I was NOT deliberately flaming. I understand why you all call it that....but I can tell you it was not meant to be. I happen to think the man is a semi-scumbag...and I was merely expressing that opinion on a political chat forum. Considering some of the horrible things people on here say about Obama, Ron Paul and others on a daily basis, I assumed my comments were no worse. But I do understand they were in very poor taste.
Most topics spiral out of control into meaningless nationalistic trolling. Even the volunteer mods join in instead of trying to regain any form of control. It is just the way this forum is. Although the half assed excuses to why it shoulden't change, is amusing to read.
Really? Have the mods been reading the board lately? Why is Dick Cheney off limits but posts like this: Have become the norm?
I've seen lots of people say that in a OP besides mods, but I've never actually seen it respected. Give it try; can't hurt.
