No woman wants to be told that her baby will suffer upon birth. I can understand them feeling great pain upon learning of such terrible news, but I am not surprised that these women were all satisfied with their decision.

It wasn't a decision to kill heartlessly, it was an act of great love.

We need a study showing how women, while knowing their baby has fetal anomalies incompatible with life, react to continuing the pregnancy. Many pro-lifers insist that women deal with it better when they continue the pregnancy. That seems ridiculous to me, but those extreme pro-lifers want women to be forced to continue the pregnancy.

Agreed but this article goes a long way towards that. Interestingly that this thread has been ignored by the more rabid pro-lifers

Am I correct in that this study was based on a sample size of 10?

Yes, small sample size but you will not get a lot of numbers to play with in any event because of the rarity of the procedure

No, small sample size does not negate the outcome but full impact may have to wait for systematic review of the literature.

But feel free to post an opposing study

No, it served to make a point and will stand unless there is better research elsewhere

It is interesting given the emotion usually injected into the late term abortion debate that there is so little response from others on this board and I would speculate that they are uncomfortable with valid reasons for the procedure

The offer is still open to find a better research paper

As it is it does underscore a point I wanted to make that the vast majority of late term abortions are carried out for valid reasons - if you have contrary research publish it

please point that out in the data and calculations portion of the paper.

Just because you don't like the sample size doesn't make the study meaningless.

only if you want to draw conclusions.

ten women felt they made a right decision. How revolutionary.

Qualitative research is explorative - it is often done when there is no quantitative studies done in that area

As Mak said even though this is a small study size it is valid. Being a qualitative study it is not a definitive answer but it does set some parameters for further research

So show us your own study that shows the opposite of the study that was posted, then, instead of trolling this thread.

    ahhh

so a "research" of a whopping group of 10 abortionists is good research? And to point out the lunacy is now called trolling????

There probably could have been more women questioned. I can agree with that - but how many people would have to be polled in order for you to accept the study?

    Late term abortions….

They should be allowed just based on the position of the prochoicers stance that women be allowed ownership to their bodies.

Why are not more pro-choicers demanding that the laws be overturned to allow late term abortions?
