This is troubling. Has any other American president let a foreign company in a foreign nation handle American citizens votes? The media has not reported this at all. A private company in Italy has been awarded the rights to process the 2012 presidential election results this November. There are no Americans involved with this company, only foreigners. What is the motive behind this move?

It's no more troubling than Citizen's United allowing non-naturalized foreigners to directly participate in US internal policy by allowing their money to flow freely and covertly into our electoral process. US Citizens at once may not be foreigners but at the same time may be foreigners. Foreigners allowed to participate directly in affecting elections. Where were your outcries when this happened?

Where is the outrage when the SC uses international law that affect the outcomes of their decisions?

Is there any proof of this beyond Michael Savage's insane rants?

    Is there ever?

Obama not involved. Federal government not involved. Local governments choose what companies process their votes.

Near as I can tell from the news stories and press releases, an American company, SOE, has contracts with several hundred municipalities in the United States, as well as full-state contracts with a dozen states, to provide software for election systems.

This Spanish (not Italian) multinational company, SCYTL, acquired SOE earlier this year in a completely open and arms-length transaction.

These companies provide software for vote counting. Vote counting is done at a local level, not "overseas" or in any other kind of central clearing house. These companies would have no more power to "influence" voting than Microsoft would if the votes were tallied on a PC running Windows and Microsoft Excel.

So, from this thread, we might deduce the following trends in our country:

    1) "conservatives" who pretend to oppose big government would, in this instance, suggest the federal government should interfere with a legitimate, arms-length buyout of one private entity by another.
    2) alternately, those same "conservatives" would suggest that local governments should cede responsibility for counting elections to the federal government, and that only the federal government should award contracts to provide voting equipment.
    3) finally, the people complaining about this are, despite no doubt claiming to be more "patriotic" than others, completely ignorant of how the mechanics of our actual election system operate.

Hey, why don't we all click on second link in the OP. I'm sure it won't show how people have already ended this.
