It was reported that North Korea's much hyped long-range rocket apparently crashed into the sea a few minutes after launch on Friday. This is good news to the US, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Western nations and other Asian countries even China. However, don't celebrate the happy news too early.

I have the following "intelligent guesses" or "predictions" in the aftermath of the North Korean rocket launch failure.

    1. North Korea's second consecutive failure to get a satellite into orbit was a major blow to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's effort to create the myth that he is a "born leader and "a genius among geniuses". To consolidate his power in the military and regain his lost pride among the people, news of a success in its nuclear programme could help him offset the adverse effect of the rocket launch failure.

Hence the next news that may grip the global news headlines will be an impending North Korean nuclear test.

    2. Don't underestimate the North Korean regime's determination to build up its ballistic nuclear missile arsenal and its guts in defying the US, Japan, Russia and China.

It will continue with more and more long-range rocket launches in the future despite the two successive failures.

    3. Like tossing a coin, North Korea may get a thousand "tails", but even God may get so tired of "tails" that He will eventually give it a "head".

It took us 9 tries before we got it right. It is only a matter of time before NK suceeds.

That actually depends on how long their civilian population can go without food, as well, as long as the government of North Korea can afford to make rockets.

If we compare the timeline of North Korea's nuclear weapons programme and the period of its famine, we would find that the famine had not deterred the regime's nuclear ambitions.

The North Korean famine, known as the Arduous March in North Korea, was a famine in North Korea which began in the early 1990s and ended in the late 1990s.

Estimates state that, from a population of approximately 22 million, between 900,000 and 3.5 million people died from starvation or hunger-related illnesses, with the deaths peaking in 1997.

Thus whether "their civilian population can go without food" is not a concern to the North Korean communist regime. All the country's resources, including any outside aid by Big Brother China and other countries, would go to the military first.

Sŏn'gun, often spelled Songun, is North Korea's "Military First" policy, which prioritizes the Korean People's Army in the affairs of state and allocates national resources to the ‘army first’. The North Korean nuclear programme is unstoppable whatever sanction is applied by the US and its allies.

We need universal sanctions against North Korea and a way of killing un. Use media to educate rhe general population and start a civil rebellion.

    That would not work.

For one, all TVs and Radios in North Korea are pretuned to specific frequencies, which only have domestically produced content. And because of the Cult of Personality, "re-education" really would not work as long as the current government is in place.

And no, I would not want to see a "civil rebellion". In my experience, they rarely ever work, and only result in a huge number of civilian deaths and the government becoming even more repressive.

Indeed, the prospect of a war in North Korea is undesirable, especiallyh considering our dismal failures in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. But it is fast the only solution. I don't agree with a war, but I need another option. I do not like my idea, but I need an alternative.

    ROFL!

Failures? Is Saddam planting tens of thousands in mass graves anymore? Is the Taliban destroying 1500 year old cultural treasures simply because they are not "Islamic"? Is the Taliban still in control of Afghanistan, or the Ba'ath party still torturing and slaughtering it's people as it's leader lives in multiple palaces and crapping in a gold toilet?

Funny, but you have a strangely distorted concept of what "failure" is.

And I do not like your idea either, so that makes 2 of us. Funny that you claim that you do not like war, yet you propose the ugliest and nastiest kind of war possible. Maybe you need to consult some warriors and find out what really works.

And stop listening to fools that are telling you that black is white and up is down.

    Research, research, research, research, research.

Myself, I work not only off of my own knowledge and experience, but my many years of reading and researching. And most times before I make a post I will have 3 or 4 other browser windows open, researching my own posts before I make them.

As for your comment on starting a civil rebellion, we have ample examples of exactly that happening in the last 50 years. And most of them were either crushed with huge civilian casualties, or ended up ultimately putting in power a group that was even worse then that which was replaced.

It does not take a rocket scientist to look at past examples like Iraq, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Uganda, Angola, Algeria, Greece, Burma, Libya, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Congo, Lebanon, Ethiopia, and the former Yugoslavia to realize that this is the last road we want to go down, when all other means have failed.
