Well, it looks like Walker's reforms are working better than thought. Teachers aren't being laid off and school districts now have surpluses that can be spent more wisely. It's a win-win situation. Its Working in Walkers Wisconsin
But, the socialists will pull all the plugs on the recall election and if I were Walker I'd increase my security.
The unions will still try to destroy the plan and the Democratic Party will assist them. Consider what happened in Washington D.C. The predominantly black parents of Washington D.C. were destroyed as were the children when Barack Obama ended their very successful and popular voucher program. Now these kids will slip back into a horrible and failed system and lose the massive success their voucher program was. http://educationnext.org/lost-opportunities/ The reading skills significantly improved each year of the program. This program proved that in poor urban communities vouchers could be wildly successful and the Democrats stomped them out to protect the teachers union and their parties cash flow. The program also saved significant budget as the vouchers were below the cost of educating a student in the public program. It's not about educating children. It's about driving money into the Big Public Sector Unions and the Democratic Party.
This is one of my biggest complaints against the Democratic Party. Their fight against allowing school vouchers. It's all to appease the unions and nothing else. Private schools have proven to be a God sent for many kids that can't seem to be able to make in in public schools for one reason or another and parents should have a choice. Granted private schools isn't for everyone, but it can help millions of kids. One only has to watch this video to know what I mean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bx4pN-aiofw
Same old story. Progressives shout, spit, and scream in a vitriolic and apoplectic fit of rage, claiming that such-and-such a policy or reform will end up destroying children, poor people and the elderly, but ultimately and invariably their claims turn out to be utter lies and sophistry, based upon nothing more than their insatiable greed and desire for political power. I learned long ago that nothing a "liberal" says can be trusted; they have no compunction about smearing, distorting, and outright lying when it comes to protecting their patronage system. They are traitorous enemies of the republic and must be defeated at every level of government.
There's always a downside. Would our liberal friends tell us please, why Walker should still be recalled?
Because he had the audacity to demand some semblance of operational efficiency and fiscal sanity, of course. Anyone who tries to hold the DNC patronage system (public sector unions) accountable to the taxpayers will be viciously attacked and maligned, regardless.
It's impressive. I'm glad to see the pension cuts and insurance payments have been successful. I'm not convinced that collective-bargaining needed to be eliminated in order to get better insurance rates, though
That's because you are an apologist for the union thugs. Part of the narrative. You will never change.
Here is the scam. Democrats every once in a while get full control of a government as the pendulum swings. When they have it, they make outrageous deals with the Public Unions because they get a direct payoff. It is at the expense of the tax payer who is not represented. No one says a thing, the Liberal newspapers refuse to give it any real coverage. Then they lose power and people try to reform teachers making outrageous benefits, prison guards collecting $100K+ benefits, firemen making ridiculous salaries... and suddenly screaming, crying, demonstrations, and media outrage hits all over. The left knows how to throw a tantrum even though they have screwed the populace.
Opening the health plan to competition should have been a no-brainer, and not a partisan issue. But cutting pension benefits and raising insurance premiums is simply balancing your budget on the backs of the teachers. There's nothing particularly magical -- or inherently laudable -- about that.
Yeah, I'm sure things are going great for you in Wisconsin, if you're not a woman. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/06/scott-walker-wisconsin-equal-pay-law_n_1407329.html
If you read the article you posted he did not remove anything from women, the repeal was of the 2009 Wisconsin Act 20 which awarded punitive damages for employment discrimination. The repeal of this bill stops individuals from seeking more money that is actually due to them in court. No one has lost their right to sue in state court, they just cannot be awarded obscene amounts of money. They can also still sue on a federal level - and EQUAL PAY has not been repealed, they are just attempting to quell the fraud that people pursue against companies every day. Business groups pushed for this because of the massive amounts of lawsuits that come through every year at NO cost to the individual making the accusation while costing thousands to tens of thousands to the business. Of course liberals are ok with this as business are the enemy... Btw - your war on women is getting desperate - the bill never even mentions women. Good try. You should try some research sometimes - it would make you look like less foolish (toting the party line anyone?) This is all beside the point of course, you cannot discuss the OP because you have no argument so you attempt to divert the conversation. Private sector unions are fine and even sometimes necessary. Public sector unions should be outlawed across the country.
In the United States the Office of Public Education began in 1867. Before that time parents educated their children through use of private tutor, or children went to "schools" supported by a church parish. It was never "all day". This system created the architects of our Constitution and Declaration of Independence. This model produced our Emancipation Proclamation. Lower school was for the purpose of broadening one's philosophical horizons while higher education was to produce lawyers and/or medical/scientific scholars. The problem with our education system is philosophical. Education is no longer for the purpose of understanding the world around us and philosophy that can elevate and lift the human spirit, but to pump out people who can contribute to the workforce. It is much like prison, only there's not as much rape. We live in a society that has slowly by surely forced us into a system where we spend more and more time away from home, away from our families and--in fact, has promoted ones value being equivalent to one's salary. Parents MUST give their child the type of education the government feels they should have or the children can be taken away. Therefore, we have set the stage and precedent that parents are insignificant because a child's/human's potential value is directly aligned with future earning potential, therefore good parents are those that can send their children away to boarding and prep schools and bad parents are those that home school. Educating children? What does that mean, exactly?
Well, if you were paying attention, you'd have remembered that I supported pension cuts and insurance payments for public school teachers in WI just as I did here in NJ, but I know...it's just easier for you guys to keep track of your arguments by assuming all of us teachers stand behind the unions 100%. Less thinking necessary on your part. So once again, I'm not quite sure why collectve bargaining had to be eliminated in order to ensure a competitive health plan. No reason such a thing couldn't have been renegotiated at the end of the contract. The article in the OP doesn't make any attempt to explain that. Apparently, Bubba can't, either.
You would think that people would support the same rights that Federal Workers have for State Workers, right? ...except... ...while you're nodding your head and saying "YEAH! ... ...I will then clue you in and notify you that Federal Workers do not have "Collective Bargaining" rights. What Walker did was put State Workers on the same plane as Federal Workers have been on. And I'll also point out that Obama just unilaterally froze wages for Federal Workers. Wisconsin Dems would have flown into a rage had that happened to them. Whups. Dems are just stoopid.
None of this explains why it was necessary to ensure competitive insurance rates, as the article implies.
And as manawa posted in the comment section of the Huffington Post article, the bill repealed has nothing to do with repealing 'equal pay', and the word 'women' isn't even mentioned in the act being repealed. Rage fail!
