this is absolutely the most insane twisted logic I have ever heard of. I even doubt if the libs here can find any logic in this one.

Well, who would know more about slavery than the left? They are the ones that keep promoting the practice even today.

But seriously, working next to someone that is not part of the union and doesn't have to put any of their own money towards that union is slavery, then what is the progressive taxation we have called?

I'd like to tell these union goofs that the real slavery that happens in unionized shops is when YOU have to do OTHER PEOPLE'S work because they are either incompetent or lazy but they still get the same pay or more than you do, and the union protects those employees and that behavior.

Bitter collectivist drones largely consider working 'for the man' slavery.....
Collectivist unions are just middlemen who found a way to extort a profit off of the "slavery"

The unions are a dying breed.

Trap an animal in the corner, and reasoning goes the way of fear. Emotional fear always causes illogical decisions.

Right to Work Laws are nothing of the sort. That sort of propaganda makes it seem like you have a right to work, ie a job will be supplied. Instead, it means that you can leave at will and an employer can fire you at ill. It means that non-exempts and exempts are defined differently. If you are salaried you receive no overtime. If you are a contractor in a right to work state and the company underbid to win, you will be working in conditions similar to a Chinese sweatshop and with no paid overtime.

Office Space is a good example of this in the IT world. Peterrrrr, we're gonna need ya to just...come on in Saturday. And Sunday. Yeahhhhh.

    So what?

Maybe the old blue concepts you hold so dear.. like "weekends" and (*)(*)(*)(*) are horribly out of date in a merciless global economy that economically punishes people who hold to the old "Blue Industrial Social Model" of the 1940's-50's??

Ever think that maybe people need to entirely redefine their idea of what the work week may look like and start to have to work on Saturday and Sunday and maybe take say Tuesday and Thursday off?

To succeed in today's economy requires the flexibility to throw off the old social norms established by the industrial era. We are post industrial now and things like "weekends" must go the way of the dodo.

I have never been in a union, and that still describes every job I've ever had. The only difference is the low ball figure that the owner dictates everyone is basically worth, with no regard to individual effort, or the high ball figure the union negotiates. As a society, both have their ups and downs. However, only a retarded worker would take a pro-right to work stance, just as only a retarded business owner would take an anti-right to work stance. If you think right to work has anything positive to offer workers, you are just retarded in general.

There is no slavery with working for a non union company. We have laws on the books now that protect much of America's work force.

The problem I have with Right to Work, is that if people want to work for a unionized company, they should either join the union, or at least pay the union dues and state they don't want to be in the union.

If it allows you to work more hours then why not? Companies right now actively discourage anyone getting overtime, ensuring that you pesonally will get stuck with 35-40 hours a week and not get an hour more, ever.

I'd rather have the ability to work as many hours as my body can stand and rake in wealth than be limited by Government laws that say my employer has to either pay me more, or cut my hours and keep them at 40 hours a week.

You realize that not all of us are concerned with concepts like "leisure time" and (*)(*)(*)(*) and people like you hold back those of us who could put in plenty of more hours at the job we're at, rather than having to seek a 2nd job during the week to achieve the standard of living we would like to live.

Some of us are mentally STRONGER than you and see some of the things you see as "human rights" i see as sops to weakness and a lack of drive.

So you're ok with being worked to the bone for nothing. Got it.

There is truth to this. People on the low end of the totem pole get stuck in this trap a lot. You end up having to work 2 jobs 70-80 hrs a week anyway, and don't get over time pay. A person should be able to opt out of over time and work 70 for 1 place if they so desire. That would be true freedom. Only if an employer schedules for more than 40 without their permission should it apply. If an employer forces them to sign the waiver, have a hotline available for the employees to anonymously report them.

It's not slavery, of course, but the name is misleading. It should be "Right To Be Fired".

Don't think just because you work for a union you can't be fired, you sure can. All you need to do is break company rules. Before I retired, it averaged out to almost three employees a month got fired. That was with a work force of about 2,700.

wha I find absurd is that the union is claiming that because a company has the right to hire nion union employees that work alongside of union members for the same benefits and pay that makes the union slaves to the non union members when th eunion negotiates with the companies for wages and benefits. Makes no sense whatsoever to me but then the government taxing me if I don't buy health insurance makes no sense to me either although libs seem to love the idea

I'm not sure what definition of slavery they are using. This is as absurd as when the slack-witted liberals on this forum attempted to portray disagreeing with Obama's agenda as racist.

But, who would know less about working than union extortionists. I never wanted to work with union thugs but at times I had to.

What it does if a person works for a union company and doesn't join, or at least pay what a union member pays, without joining, is making him what I would call a parasite. They are getting the same pay and benefits. The union would have to represent them in a hearing for breaking company rules, even though he isn't union. He has all the benefits of a union member without having to ever put his job on the line in case of a strike. I don't think that's fair.

I don't see how that follows. You have a right to free speech, that doesn't mean words are supplied for you. A freedom to do something, isn't the same as an entitlement to have it provided for your.

Another (*)(*)(*)(*) poor employee who needs to join organized crime to get by. I love it when arson, vandalism, assault, and even murder come under the heading of "negotiations".

I was a worker, I'm retired now, I'm not retarded, I actually worked, and I refused to join the union in spite of being threatened with physical assault, having my work sabotaged, and other spiffy union "recruiting" strategies.

So, take your whiny, dishonest rhetoric and stuff it. I realize the lazy, incompetent, crooked, and brutal need a union. The rest of us don't.

The Chinese have destroyed the American labor movement. It no longer matters what American labor does. The Chinese have changed street level reality in a way which makes it impossible for the American labor movement to survive. That's globalization for you. What are the labor leaders going to do? The Chinese think American labor should roll over and die.

Please. I live in Idaho. Right to work state. Grew up here. Have never had a job you could join a union. Yet every job uses the excuse, "we can't give you a raise because then we would have to give everyone one". My post is spot on. Why do you think lower wrung workers won't give their all? No one is growing, so there is no room for promotion. And people pay based upon title and years spent. Construction is the only business I have seen where they will pay one guy 10 and the other guy 16, based upon skill. You have already said you were a cop. You know (*)(*)(*)(*) well what I am saying is true. Title and years spent. You didn't get anymore for those you were better than, and you (*)(*)(*)(*)ing know it.
