I am watching the speech and am impressed by his style and more importantly, he does not seem to be using a teleprompter...he is speaking better than BoBo on a good day and the old media is not covering it at all... http://www.nationalreview.com/corne...t-economy-and-we-re-not-stupid-katrina-trinko He is taking it to BoBo and doing it well.
Everyone (or nearly everyone) has achievements. . . but in Romney's book (and too many in the GOP) the only "achievements" that matter are MONETARY achievements, no matter how many people have to be crushed to reach those "monetary" achievements!
A very good and well delivered speech...BoBo had better get his teleprompter tuned as he is not that good a speaker.
"Those who claim to spread wealth have never done anything but spread poverty." -- brilliant Your man is toast, Sadanie.
Great lines, great speech. Sure is nice to hear somebody positive for a change. Obama's troops are sweating bullets right now.
The left doesn't blame and penalize success. On the contrary, they recognize that success comes in many shapes, and is not limited to making over $1 million a year, and that "success" doesn't increase ONLY based on how many millions one makes, but depends on how positive that person's influence (whether a wealthy or a poor person's influence) for other people! A dedicated nurse may have much greater achievements than a Wall Street CEO, a basketball star, or a $250 millions politician. . .but the GOP tends not to recognize the nurse's achievement and contribution to the well being of the nation that that of the "wealthy job creators," (who haven't been created jobs in spite of the Bush tax cuts, obviously!)
And I thought we needed a president to take or give it to America. yep, that is what they do best - demolish the opponent
Romney says we should compare now to when Obama took office? Are my friends and neighbors losing their jobs on a daily basis? "No" Is my home dropping in value 25%+ a year? "No". Is my stock portfolio worth less than half what it was? "No". Do I want to go back to the way it was when Obama took office? HELL NO.
But they only penalize one sort of success, the sort that results in jobs, money or an improving society. Squishy 'success' based on other folks assets is not America..
LOL! You guys are so funny about your teleprompter. Mitt Romney: It makes sense to use a TelePrompter http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_...-romney-it-makes-sense-to-use-a-teleprompter/
I couldn't really tell if there was a 'prompter or not... some of it did sound 'canned' so I wouldn't be surprised if there was one we couldn't see. Doesn't matter, either way... he spoke well and appeared natural and relaxed. And I didn't get that familiar feeling of being preached to. (Sidenote: did you hear Obama ask the college students in NC today for an AMEN? Several times?? It was embarrassing! He sounded so desperate!) I like Ann, too. She's genuine and I think she's always been proud of her country. No chip on the shoulder... that's nice for a change, too.
I want some of whatever your smoking. As far as politicians goes, the left and the right are two sides of the same coin.
Good stuff. Here is the full speech: I bolded some of it- source http://www.buzzfeed.com/zekejmiller/romneys-big-speech-its-still-about-the-econom
No, not even that! They encourage success. . .but do not believe that, if one has $1 million a year, it would not hurt them to slow the growth of their wealth in order to help slow the growth of the deficit, or in order to avoid cutting down the lifeline of those who are living on minimum wage! The whole difference is on how one defines achievement and on one's priority: one is on human achievements, the other is on monetary achievements
