Ron Paul delegate strategy is perfectly legitimate
    Washington Times

    by Tom Mullen

Those are IMO the most important points of the article.

This thread is for those who continue to make the false allegations that Ron Paul is cheating.

If following the rules is cheating, then I give up.

Now, here's the flip side of this. Apparently the RNC may be breaking it's own rules by working directly with the Romney campaign while there is still a primary going on.

    Here's to you RNC!

Paul is in no way even close to getting the popular vote of the people. If he manages to use some obscure rule to get the nomination then all those who voted for Romney will feel cheated.

Just because something may be within the rules does not mean its the right thing to do. Paul should bow out to the man who has swept him with the votes of the people.

I don't think they're trying to be mean, just more of a reflection that he hasn't been doing a lot in regards to the media.

Trying to game the system to win is antithetical to the entire libertarian movement. Paul supporters have totally lost sight of the reality that they originally stood for.

Something as in how Eisenhower lost the popular vote after "cheating" the 1952 Republican Convention and "stealing" the nomination?

You've never been to a Libertarian Party convention. Unless you can show that the Ron Paul people are out of order, what they are doing is likely very much within the scope of Robert's Rules and therefore legitimate to the conventions. It's just that these Ron Paul followers are learning the rules and how to play them better than the old guard Republicans who normally use them to keep everyone else in lockstep.

Can you explain why you think what's being done is antithetical to the libertarian movement? Libertarians abide by the Law, not the dictates of the political class. Civil disobedience is hardly antithetical to the fight for liberty. If anything it's part and parcel of the cause. It's antithetical to the statist Republicans who hold that the law is the law.

Some obscure rule? You mean showing up and voting for delegates? Lol you should stop posting about stuff you obviously know nothing about.

Volunteering your time to be a delegate, showing up to vote for those delegates are how it's always been done. It's as simple as reading the rules and showing up. But even hat is to difficult for some lol

ron paul is certainly no eisenhower

attempting to takeover caucuses is hijacking, not following the wishes of the majority of voters

The majority of the Virgin Island voters did not get what they wanted then. You cant have it both ways. Either we have a delegate process or we dont. Currently we do. It is impossible to "hijack" a process when you follow the rules. You spamming it does not make it true.

do you really think that the wishes of 112 voters in one small territory should come before every state in which ron paul lost?

no wonder ron paul has so little support among most voters, whacky reasoning like yours scares them off

ron paul hasn't won a single state primary election, not one

Why should one vote matter more the another? They dont. A vote is a vote. With your logic Romney "hijacked" the Virgin Islands and went against the popular vote. The Precedent should be set then showing the popular vote does not matter with open delegates. The only reason you refuse to admit it is 1) you will never admit to being wrong and 2) you are here to spread disinformation knowing that enough people will believe you anyways.

    you're the one spreading misinformation

what matters is the majority of votes, not one vote

romney has gotten the vast majority of the votes cast in the states

ron paul got 112 votes in the virgin islands, do you think those votes trump millions of votes in the states?

A Ron Paul nomination ensures a second term for Obama.

AUGUSTA, Maine — Even before the Maine Republican Party convention kicked off in earnest Saturday morning, there was a buzz around the event.

Would GOP Chairman Charlie Webster face a backlash for apparently bending the rules to name a convention chairman ahead of time and not at the convention? Would Ron Paul supporters “take over” the convention, as Webster feared? Would what is supposed to be a party-building gathering devolve into a fractured mess?

Those questions were answered by lunchtime: Yes, yes and yes.

In extremely close votes late Saturday morning, convention-goers elected Ron Morrell, a Paul delegate, as secretary and then elected Brent Tweed, also a Paul delegate, as chairman.

Both were picked over the two candidates that were endorsed by the party establishment and the votes signaled a likely shift in how the convention would unfold.

Republican delegation divided at state convention

    By Anjeanette Damon

    Saturday, May 5, 2012 | 11:15 a.m.

A deeply divided contingent of more than 1,200 Republicans has gathered at a Sparks casino to elect delegates to the national convention in Tampa, Fl.

Within an hour of the convention being gaveled open, accusations of fake ballots, scuffles over seating and brief disagreements over rules erupted.

Overall, however, business proceeded rather smoothly with a delegation that seemed tipped toward Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who is scheduled to speak this afternoon.

Josh Romney, whose father Mitt Romney is the presumed GOP nominee, gave a brief speech to the crowd, focusing his attacks on Barack Obama.

“This is a very important state for us,” Josh Romney told the crowd, which applauded politely but didn’t erupt into raucous cheers. “We’re campaigning hard here, we’re going to continue to campaign hard here.”

Romney won the Nevada caucus on Feb. 4 with 50 percent of the vote.

But despite coming in third, Paul’s campaign has been organizing to control the state convention and elect a majority slate of national delegates. It’s part of a state-by-state strategy to send enough delegates to Tampa to influence the national convention.

Romney’s forces appeared organized, positioning vote whips in bright orange hats throughout the convention hall to cue supporters on how to vote on specific motions.

But Paul’s supporters have spent months training delegates on the arcane rules governing the convention and have built an elaborate network to communicate with them on the floor.

Still, mischief ensued, with a “fake” slate of Paul delegates being circulated on the convention floor.

“Let’s be grown up folks,” said Rachel Stephens, a Paul delegate who took to the microphone to chastise delegates passing out a “fake” slate of Paul delegate candidates.

“I don’t care if Romney wins legitimately, but if he wins because of fake stuff, I have a problem with that,” she said.

Well if you can't convince the actual voters that your the man for the job at least you can convince enough to become delegates for you.

    How pathetic

If I ran for office and it was obvious I wasn't the peoples choice I would gracefully accept their decision and move on.
