George Clooney's Obama fundraiser brings 'Starmageddon' traffic alert ...

As political fundraisers go, it's set to be an "Avengers"-sized blockbuster ~ One hundred and fifty wealthy Democrats will dine with President Obama at George Clooney's Studio City home tonight at a party that organizers expect to gross $15 million for the president's re-election campaign — the highest amount ever raised at such an event.

It's being called 'Starmageddon,' and President Obama's fundraiser at George Clooney's home tonight is likely to cause some local traffic problems.

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lan...raiser-brings-starmageddon-traffic-alert.html

Officials warn Obama's visit to the San Fernando Valley will probably snarl rush-hour traffic in and around Studio City.

Obama will be attending a dinner fundraiser at Clooney's Studio City home, a party expected to gross $15 million for the president's reelection campaign, according to organizers.

Details on street closures were released on Twitter by Councilman Paul Krekorian, who represents the area.

Motorists driving on Laurel Canyon Boulevard and adjacent streets north of Ventura Boulevard can expect delays and/or street closures from 5 p.m to 8 p.m.

"If you live south of Ventura in Studio City ... local access to the area will be virtually sealed off from about 8 to 10 p.m., meaning all local residents will need to show a current photo ID for home access," Krekorian said in a letter.

He said police are advising residents in Fryman Canyon to stay home or make other arrangements for the day.

The president will be arriving at 6 p.m at Los Angeles International Airport and will be taken to Studio City in a helicopter and by motorcade.

Obama will be spending the night in Beverly Hills.

Guess who's coming to dinner ... George Clooney to host a $40,000 a head dinner at his Studio City home for President Obama.

It really shows how much he hates the rich doesn't it. Hypocrite. He is a lousy president but a good campaigner...is there a profession for that?

Protest Planned for President's L.A. Fundraiser

    http://beverlyhills.patch.com/articles/protest-planned-for-president-s-l-a-fundraiser

A demonstration over the administration's policies on home-ownership issues is planned for Thursday's fundraiser, which is expected to generate $15 million.

Protesters are planning to rally the Studio City home of actor George Clooney Thursday evening where President Barack Obama is attending what is projected to be the most lucrative fundraiser ever for a U.S. presidential candidate—an event expected to generate $15 million.

The president will begin his day in Washington, D.C., and fly on Air Force One to Seattle, where he will speak at two campaign events. He is scheduled to arrive at LAX at 6:25 p.m. Thursday for his 10th visit to the region since taking office, the seventh solely for political fundraising.

A demonstration over the administration's policies on home-ownership issues is planned for as close to Clooney's home as possible.
The protesters will call on Obama to get aggressive about prosecuting banks and militating for principal reduction in mortgage payments, according to Peggy Mears of the Campaign for a Fair Settlement.

The protest will dwell on a theme that many of the president's supporters frequently return to—the perception that he has allowed banks to get away with misdeeds.

"Years after wrongdoing by the banks destroyed California's housing market, not a single banker has been prosecuted and the president has refused to dismiss the heads of Fannie and Freddie, who stands in the way of help for millions of Americans," Mears said.
"It's time the president stood up for homeowners."

There was no immediate response to a request for comment from the Obama campaign. Mears' group plans a series of protests at campaign events and fundraisers demanding that Obama act now to address the issue, she said.
Campaign finance reform is also an area where some supporters feel Obama has failed to fulfill his 2008 campaign promises—a complaint brought into focus for critics by the size of tonight's projected haul.

"We have been disappointed by his failure to follow through in helping rebuild the presidential public finance system," said Mary Boyle, vice president for communications of Common Cause, a nonprofit advocacy organization that describes itself as a watchdog against corruption.

In 2008, Obama became the first major party presidential nominee to opt out of the public financing system for the general election, which began with the 1976 campaign, correctly guessing he could raise more from the combination of small and large donors.

"He said he would like to work fix the system and that hasn't happened," Boyle told City News Service.
Tonight's event is an example of how "it costs an exorbitant amount of money to run for president of the United States," she said, complaining that "we have elected officials ... constantly worrying about fundraising instead of worrying about the country's problems or their constituents' issues."

Inside the Clooney home, the president will dine with such celebrities as Barbra Streisand, Robert Downey Jr., Tobey Maguire, and several high-powered Hollywood executives.

DreamWorks Animation Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Katzenberg and his political adviser, Andy Spahn, arranged the dinner, which is being catered by Wolfgang Puck, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Organizers told The Times they expect tonight's event to raise $15 million, an unprecedented sum for a single fundraiser. VIPs will pay $40,000 a ticket price to attend. But two-thirds of the projected haul is expected to come from contributions from tens of thousands of Americans who donated an average of $23 for a chance to win a ticket to the event, The Times reported. In the end, two winners and two guests will attend.

Obama, who has spoken at political fundraisers during all but his first visit to Southern California as president, is scheduled to spend the night in Beverly Hills and leave Friday morning for Reno, Nev.

Isn't it odd that the loony left whackos hate the "wealthy" unless the "wealthy" are Communists, Marxists Socialists, Liberals and Democrats, then it is OK.

Obama's cashing in at this party: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ele...ort-article-1.1075948?localLinksEnabled=false

Before Obama announced yesterday....they were expecting to bring in $12 million at this party. Now, since he "evolved" and came out in support.....it's at $15 million now. Smart move, obama!! Always best to "evolve" into a position that gets you a few more million, eh? Can we say......no principles???

And since 1 in 6 of Obama's bundlers are gay, wonder if John Travolta will be attending this party--since a few gays are going after his money!! :)

Oh that would be rich! I'd love to see Obama wander in to a Tea party meeting. Call him up and tell him to do that...wait until I get my popcorn though, I don't want to miss one minute.
