Just thought it would be nice to find out what other members do for a living...

I myself am an I.T. Manager. Been in the field for 17+ years now. Major strength in networking/telecommunications, but have been doing a lot of web development the past few years...

The slowness of responses encourages me to believe that my private results forecast is true .
Namely , a considerable number with no employment and living off benefits and food stamps
And a considerable number not particularly proud of their job titles -- for whatever reasons
I had three businesses this time last year . However , having reached one of those age "new chapter" points ( No , mind your own business !) , I let one cease trading last September and sold one last Wednesday by sheer coincidence . This just leaves me with my Wine Importing and distribution business .
I am in Ukraine next month and one reason is to look at import /export possibilities as I have long standing friends in that part of the world .
But I am finished with heavy and time consuming work .Or , so I hope .

I'm a foreman on a construction crew. We mostly deal with foundations and earthworks, but lately we've been involved with a solar company from Spain, doing projects in Southern California and Arizona. I have a small cattle company on the side, which seems to be more of a hobby than a reliable source of income.

I relate to that . The company I sold was involved in Building exteriors maintenance . Hard work , up in the sky . I personally worked with my men for many years before becoming the Boss only seen occasionally .
Let's say that it toughens you and makes any infighting here seem child's play .Though I would't mind showing a few here the roof top sights from an upside down position . !!

Yeah I can't really eat fast food anymore. I used to work there too years ago and the amount of grease that was dumped during a day sold me on that.

In the Energy Conservation business (Insulation, Air sealing). I do residential home energy audits and various other tasks for a small business. We work in Westchester county, and all the boroughs of New York City.

Going into the police academy in January (hopefully).

About 90% of what I did in the service did not involve sitting in an airplane...as an instructor it was 50%, but this was only for two years.

We called it "queep"...non-flying duties and yeah it involves pushing paper.

Government work, even in the military is notorious for the mountains of paper work and red tape.

I am medically retired from the Army and have had a wide variety of jobs since retirement, mostly as casual labor, construction helper and stevedore and janitor and that sort of thing.

I also do some work as a role player in training scenarios, mostly related to military detainee operations. (It helps that I have a grotesque sense of humor.)
