Reagan 1980 Are you better off than you were four years ago?

We all need to ask ourselves this question in November. ARE you better off than you were 4 years ago? Are you?

No, I am making making 1/3 of what I was 4 years ago, and my wife is making 1/2 what she was 4 years ago. Times are real tough. I am underemployed, working only part time, and looking for full time work or trying to start my own business because there are no jobs.

    Same here.

But it seems, thanks to the Tea Party, the Republicans have gotten worse.

You might actually be right, but since you claimed it, prove it.

    OK,

8.6% unemployment, 14.9% underemployment, less work force participation than in decades, more folks getting on the disability roles than finding a new Obamanomics job AND GDP @ 1.5%.

    There ya go!

Well, given the choice of total economic collapse left to us by the preceding administration, compared to now? I'd say better off.

    Yes I'm better off.
Despite all the hard work of the right wing to make sure as many of us are not better off, I am better off.

Not really sure how much better off I am. Depends on how much of the Nuclear radioactive fallout from McCain/Palin war on Iran would have drifted over my location.

Look at the numbers, they are virtually the same as the day Obama took office. We are NO better off.

Yes most definately. Getting an education, working hard, accepting self-determination etc... all work. And apparently I'm still a dirty socialist ;)

Shouldn't they "just get jobs" then? I mean, this is the mantra of the Right.

The best way to fix this problem is to elect a man with a good track record in:

    1. Offshoring jobs
    2. Making a huge personal fortune from making American workers unemployed
    3. Hides his fortune offshore, avoiding taxes that could be used on the failing US education system

This is your man, right here!

Well...numbers indicate that the stock market is at better than twice the levels when George the republican goof left his reign of terror. I thought the "markets" were one number always applauded by the right. That's probably the same reason the right sat on their hands (politically) during Bush's reign of terror.

Hey! I know a billionaire job outsourcer that's running for republican President. He'll do to America what he did to his bankrupted hoards of people already. Great.....great idea...

Yes, I am. Not by a lot, but I'm still getting raises in pay each year and have more money in the bank. Meanwhile two of neighbors lost jobs connected with the auto industry, and one moved back to Tennessee as a result. I have the good fortune to be in a job where the impact of economic downturns tends not to be felt very strongly. Plus, most of my family are back to work, some of them after long periods of unemployment.

Should I give the credit to a Democratic president or a Republican governor? Frankly, neither.

Yes I am better off. Regardless who becomes president I will be better off in another four years. Although it would be better if I could get into that 15% bracket with Romney!

You didn't ask if WE collectively are better off. Pardon those of us who happen to be successful. I didn't realize this this thread was meant to be a pity-party.

When Bush left office a gallon of gas was $1.80. Now it is $4.00 plus and expected to go higher cause obama people think it's only fair that we pay what europe pays for their gas.

Bread is now $3.00 a loaf. Definitely UP. Eggs are up, dairy products. milk. cereal. Higher grocery prices. We're using our corn crop for this stupid ethanol. How stupid can the gov't get.
