    This is disturbing.

the reason (excuse) given General Eric Shinseki, secretary of Veterans Affairs......

    And, of course, the promise.....

Apparently the General is following Obama's lead in making "down the road promises", but as the record stands today, the VA has really neglected our veterans.
    http://cnsnews.com/news/article/backlog-veterans-disability-claims-increases-179-under-obama

And while the backlog of claims was mounting, those hard working folks at the VA where...... spending tax dollars to insure they where up to speed on their union contract!
    http://washingtonexaminer.com/watchdog-va-spends-millions-to-train-employees-on-union-contract/article/2509487

Looks like the unions, not the vet's, are the one's the VA is looking out for. Imagine that?

A LARGE number of additional disabled = a longer backlog for a time.

Yeah its too bad Obama didn't take the long term Republican "solution" to injured vets of simply continuing to deny these men disability for their ill health. Voila! No backlog!

Problem "solved", except for tripping over more homeless vets on the street!

I know congress hates to spend money right now, but time to spend some and get all these paper forms on-line, computerized, pretend this is the 21st century and not the 18th

Had that stupid SOB who had the reins for the eight years prior to Obama's election done his job, there would not be a backlog, first of all, becauser the system would have been funded properly from Jump Street, and there would be fewer people messed up for life just because some sociopath decided he was gonna get the guy who tried to whack his Daddy.

Again, What does Bush have to do with the Current situation? POTUS and his admin have been seated for quite some time and have had plenty of time to recognize the poor structure and correct. I am not a Bush fan.

This situation exist because or poor leadership.

    Well said!

And a lot closer to the facts than any conservative will admit.

The GOP tried to cut Veterens benefits ten times during the Bush adminstration.

EVERY Republican except John McCain (who abstained) voted AGAINST the New GI Bill of Rights.

Does anyone actually believe that an Administration that went to great lenghts to conceal and deny how badly they had miscalculated in Iraq, wouldn't do the same thing when it comes to the rididual effects of that catastrophic blunder.

I'm sure there's vets from the war of 1812, still trying to get their stuff thru the VA.

The Obama administration was wasting tens of billions spying on Americans phones and eMails, there just wasn't any leftover to take care of the injured Vets.

I used to want my son to join the military but I've changed my mind. The modern anti-Christian/pro-gay military is no place for a young man to be, and if he gets injured, the government will screw him.

You mean their are more vets needing assistance after we were involved in simultaneous wars? You don't say. Perhaps we need to hire more government employees so we can properly take care of these people.

The persecution complex is strong with this one. "Oh god, Christians no longer have the full run of the army, and gays are able to serve without having to lie about their sexuality! I feel so oppressed!"

Meanwhile, as for the OP: as mentioned earlier, there's the change in how claims from the first gulf war were handled, and also, wouldn't you expect an increase from Afghanistan and Iraq slowly coming around? This seems to me more like a case of "government agency can't handle large influx of new work" than "Obama is screwing the veterans". Would you support increased spending on VA?

Obama isn't the first democrap president to go AWOL when it comes to the process of having veterans get their well deserved benefits. I submitted a claim for PTSD and other combat related physical disabilities into the veterans affairs back in 1992 when democrap bill klinton was president. I didn't get those well deserved bennies for 5 full years as the VA stonewalled me and thousands of other veterans during that time period. As far as Obama is concerned, you have to remember that he was commie student in his younger daze that couldn't help but protest any and all American military missions; and sad to say, he still doesn't have respect for our military or for our veterans needs.

Obama hates the Military people he trusts to protect him should the citizens decide Barry needs to go early. That's always a smart strategy.
