No it has nothing to do with the students. There are chemicals and food additives, a culture of drugs and depravity, and the €£¥#%^* US Government stealing 30% of people's income while giving it to the rich!

If you want to know why the region is backwards, it was moulded that way by the €£¥#%^* politicians.

The US people are normal and regular, and just €£¥#%^* born in this place.

When you pass a man in rags do you laugh and lament yourself at your wise decisions, or do you realize that the man is YOU with a few different life outcomes. Your life destiny is chosen by OTHERS as much as its chosen by yourself, mate. In this case Detroit is a perfect storm of US Government stupidity, and I invite you to go there sometime for the eye-opening experience!

Now I can assume your observation is innocent and you have a desire to see reality. Sample the €£¥#%^* food. That is all I can say.

Indeed, but not so much the Federal one, as the local one. It's their own fault for giving into the unrealistic demands of Unions, who chased their local businesses away.

It's really quite telling that the most economically depressed cities in the nation, are largely Liberal-controlled, and have been for quite some time.
Detroit itself is #1 for childhood poverty, and liberals only have their own economic prescriptions to blame. From Chicago, to all across California, you find similar stories.

You can also find liberal-controlled cities with strong economies and conservative-controlled cities with weak economies.

^There's going to be variance, true, but I'm saying the trend is unfavorable for them, simply because they are far more commonly found at the bottom.

There are cities that, even when managed well, simply can't be saved. Just as with businesses, sometime the paradigms they subsisted on became obsolete, and they couldn't replace them with new ones. That said, this isn't why Detroit failed, Detroit failed, because they were idiots who raised taxes three times over, despite revenue going down each time. They also have a rather unfriendly regulatory environment for businesses, big or small, which is always an economic suicide pact for all of those not living at the outskirts.

You can also find liberals who will go to any length to make excuses for the failed policies of the Democrat Party.

Detroit is owned by black Democrat liberals.

The blame for everything that is wrong there falls at their feet.

    Some places are legalising drugs.
I can see why, the teachers must need them.

As for the fault - easy.
The loss of all values in society.

Detroit pumped a lot into the public school systems. For awhile there you'd be hard pressed to find a public school system better funded, however, when those funds go to riot gates, armed security guards, and other measures to protect the teachers from the students there's not a lot of money left probably for education.

Which is again why throwing money at a problem doesn't solve it.

Bill Clinton encouraged pilot programs--which liberals would hate because it allowed for religious schools, but...--that enabled inner city children to attend private schools. My senior year of high school we had a group of intelligent but at risk kids sent to our school to see if their grades could come up and if they had a shot at college. By the end of the year they were all A and B students.

Smaller classrooms, uniforms, less tolerance for crap, discipline, higher expectations, etc worked with these students.

Do you ever make intelligent posts? I'm just curious. I might have missed them.

haha, what a laugh riot. My best friend graduated from Detroit public school without much help from her teachers, went on to the University of Michigan and now oversees $60 million dollar projects.

    She can also rap.

Of course you do. However, some people have a little more depth of thought and don't need to rely on tired old bogeymen.

Those are the people that will actually solve the problem.

Every state and every city has government education. That's not the reason.

Maybe this is off the point of your thread but what in the hell is the percentage of livestock in a barnyard??? Is that like in terms of the ratio of the surface area of the animals to that of the enclosed area of the barnyard? I'm just a little uncertain as to the mathematical relationship by which we can derive a percentage from the quantities of "barnyard" and "livestock". Or, are you saying that out of any typical barnyard, a certain percentage of the livestock will normally be able to read like 8th graders?

Do you think that public schools outside of areas like say Mclain, VA or Nassau NY stand up to private schools?

I don't think public schools anywhere can touch private schools.

    That's a good thing - minimal contamination.
