U.S. Law Enforcement Seeking To Use Drones For Domestic Policing

I guess the 176 children killed in drone strikes isn’t enough blood? 'Law enforcement' agencies now want to use these also?

Please tell me how we live in a 'free society'.

You do understand that not all (or even most) drones are armed, right?

What is the difference between a police force operating a helicopter for surveillance and operating a drone for surveillance?

Pretty much. Its just a tool for them, of which they have many. If your kid is abducted it would be great if they could send up a bunch of drones to find the vehicle. The only ones really bothered by this are those who want to break the law.

Or those that see our freedoms being taken away.

But if the drones are only used for surveillance purposes, than what rights are you losing?

The right to privacy? I would say in any public place, that right does not really apply.

Big brother is watching you. its that simple. What reason is there to be sending up drones over our country? There isnt any.

People think these drones are going to be following them around or something everytime they go outside lol.

I highly doubt most of us are interesting enough to justify that cost. I dont see any freedoms being taken away whatsoever.

    I gave one already.

Monitor speeders, find drug farms, help in locating missing people, rescue operations, firefighting, the list endless.

Speed doesn’t kill, that is nothing more than a revenue generator. Drivers not paying attention to what is going on does.

Drugs will not be solved until we legalize the garbage and give help to the people who are users, not incarcerate them. And I say this a straight edger who does not take drugs or condone the use of them.

Ten Years After Decriminalization, Drug Abuse Down by Half in Portugal

Using drones will not help in rescue operations, firefighting, etc. It's simply a way 'law enforcement' can over step their bounds in the name of 'public safety'

    Bingo!

Just because something COULD be misused doesn't mean we don't even try, otherwise we probably wouldn't exist.

Anything the police can use a helicopter for (except transporting SWAT troops) can be done with a drone at a MUCH cheaper price.

Anything in law enforcement that could benefit from seeing more of the world will benefit from drones.

As long as they are not armed i don't see the big deal. I don't have anything to hide so it's whatever.

They can do that now with satellites if they want.

Are you opposed to them also?

You do realize that the use of drones will cost money and those in charge will have to justify what they are using them for. Do you really think they are just going to fly them around wherever they want?

Because local police forces have infinite amounts of money right?

Why aren't they watching you right now with their helicopters?

Like in Oragne Country where they refuse to say when, and why they are using these drones? Did you even read the article? I made it easy, I copied he whole thing

    From the article:

There is no accountability here. And it seems, you could care less.

I am not in law enforcement so why should I be briefed on their tactics?

I have a decent idea what drones are used for, if they are being misused then thats the defense attorneys job to address during court.

That argument is dead, it's why the right loves to give away our rights.
You don't value your 4th amendment rights?
You will. When it's too late.

Would that be the court system that RWers accuse of having activist judges?

If you see a drone flying around shoot it down.
