What's our wonderful president's take on this? Is there any political advantage for Obama to speak about this injustice? He seems to pick and chose his causes.

Will Obama allow Iran to hang a Christian American for being Christian?

Not sure what could be done to secure Mr. Abedini's release. Threaten more sanctions?

    Sad situation.

Thats exactly what I was thinking - They have them sanctioned up the wassoo right now, I cant think of any leverage any part of the US government can do to gain relief for this guy. When you hear this "bedini’s attorney told advocacy group American Center for Law and Justice that most of the charges against Abedini are indecipherable." You have to wonder what hope anyone has of sorting this out

Is it against the law in Iran to lead underground churches? Americans are discouraged by their govt to visit Iran. Certainly this pastor knew the rules of the game. Likemor dislike the govt of Iran one just cannot go into a foreign govt and break its laws. Also, if this individual hols duel citizenship or if the govt of Iran considers him to be Iranian while in Iran he has few protections as a foreigner. And there is no us embassy in Iran.

Here is your answer from Waltkey.

Obama's White House and State Department condemned it and called for the cleric's release.

What SHOULD he have done, gone to war?

Maybe foreigners shouldn't go to countries where they are breaking the laws, unfair or not, until they get the laws repealed.

Are you going to call for the president to demand the release of the homosexuals from America who go to Uganda and get sentenced to death under THEIR new laws?

A government is only as free as its least just judge. Iran is the way it is today because its government will not remove judges like Pir-Abassi.

What is happening in Iran nowadays is no joke...

    David Horowitz Freedom Center <http://email.hspdirect.com/ct/33465169:sGq0c6CNz:m:1:725163140:FC3AB6E9351176964EA4E55D1D8187E0:r>

Everyone is talking about who won in New Hampshire but let's not forget the real winner of 2016...

    Iran and the Islamic State.

Not only did Iran score a nuclear deal that freed them from sanctions but now they're back to "business as usual" -- plus some.

Iran is raking in the cash from their long con game. And we're the suckers.

If you keep up with our work on FrontpageMag.com, then you know Iran has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to solidify its nefarious alliances and raise an army of economic, political, and military forces against the United States.

As Iranian-American scholar Dr. Majid Rafizadeh explains, Iran has been building an Islamist empire through its loyal proxies in dozens of countries. More recently, these Iranian Islamist proxies have become empowered and emboldened on an unprecedented level. Their leaders are publicly announcing their desire to create Islamist states, which are modeled after the Islamic Republic of Iran.

And is it any surprise? For almost eight years now, America has been evacuating her position of leadership in the Middle East. And when America steps out, her enemies step in.

But why right now? What has made Islamists so bold that they'll announce their mission of creating an Islamist state to the world without batting an eyelash?

The answer is simple - the nuclear deal has freed the hands and tongues of those who hate America. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has been on a shopping spree across Europe to reap benefits from the nuclear deal and business deals worth billions of dollars.

Behind closed doors, while human rights demonstrators were protesting the Iranian presidential visit, more than 30 business agreements were signed, with various industries, including petrochemicals, construction, transportation, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, health care, etc. The car manufacturer, Peugeot Citroën, signed nearly a half-billion dollars with Iran Khodro, and Total made a contract to buy 150,000 to 200,000 barrels of oil everyday from Tehran.

And where are these billions of dollars heading? The lifting of the economic sanctions by the United Nations Security Council has empowered the Islamic Republic, and billions of dollars are being directed towards Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and supporting Iran's Islamist proxies -- designated as terrorist groups -- across the world.

The mullahs are telling the world that they are "open for business."

P.S. Don't be fooled - Iran's mission of creating "mini me's" isn't a pipe dream. Iran created power within its borders the same way it's now creating power outside them. Every dollar Western nations free up for Iran goes directly to its hegemonic, anti-Western, anti-Semitic ambitions.
