Favorite video game music

I hate videogame music... the first thing I do before I play is to turn it off. Seriously, when I am playing a FPS the only thing I want to hear are the explosions and the screams of the dying! There has been one exception to this... Half-Life 2. In HL2 they effectively use the music to build up the tension and drama at just the right times. This adds sooo much to the game IMO. Also the music is not always playing... so when you hear it you know its going to get intense!

 

Soundtrack for To the Moon.

 

Not necessarily music, but I love the satirical radio programming you get in the car radio for GTA games. It's pretty bad that I have to kill somebody and steal their car just to listen to the radio, but it's a laugh isn't it!

I agree with robini123 about music not being too appropriate in an FPS.

As for music, Final Fantasy has the best orchestral music. Sometimes I have to linger in a particular place or dialogue to continue hearing the music. The best is this from Final Fantasy IV (II for the US SNES release).

Personally I like the music from the Total War series and Civilization 5

I'm also a fan of all the final fantasy's soundtracks.

And of course, who can forget Dynasty and Samurai Warriors?

Good point. Reminds me that I did like the music in Fallout 3 and Bioshock... period music that really immersed you into the game.

Wow mega man 2 theme brings back memories! I can hear mega mans arm cannon shooting lol. As for the rest, wicked child is a total classic love it! As well as the super nintendo version, I used to put the controller down and just listen as a kid lol.
