It limits the use of drones as a counter to terrorist attacks. Sounds reasonable. What do you think?

I personally don't see the big deal ... Big Govt. can still call-out the Drones ... to spy on suspected terrorists before they attack ... so if a Drone Pilot *accidently* turns on the thermal-imaging cam and catches you naked in the hot tub ... well, that's just something we need to live with in the age of terrorism ...

Not without a warrant. As it should be. No more willy nilly fly overs.

Are they also going to ban Police helicopters?

Because everything you can do with a drone, you can also do with a helicopter plus some.

And you have exactly what evidence that police and the DHS operate armed drones?

You are aware that most drones can't carry weapons, right?

Who said only DHS and Police have drones? And why would Rand Paul have to filibuster for almost a friggin day to get an answer from Holder on if armed drones could be used here..... Common sense.

Because he wanted to make a political spectacle, entreat himself to pathalogically paranoid Rightwingers who know about as much about drones as your average 3 year old, and set up his Presidential bid for 2016.

Any time a state government passes a law just to flip off the Federal government, I get +1 faith in humanity.

I think unarmed drones need less concern, but I would limit armed drones to battle terrorist attacks only

does this also stop Americans from flying their own unarmed drones is the question?

How did that work out in Iraq? You know, the "light em up" thing that came out in Wikileaks? The one with the shot to pieces children and the pilot who was whooping.

They have no authority to do that, the President has special powers in the constitution to protect Americans.

If he has to fly a drone over Florida because right wing militants are planning evil doing, then Florida can't take their case to the supreme court due to federal immunity powers.

The right to due process is waived when the threat is imminent.

Scott should have put that pen where the sun don't shine.

Domestic terrorism is still a major threat and drones may become neccessary in countering that threat.

"Common sense" and "Rand Paul" should never be used in the same context. Boy's got a couple headbolts rattling.

Did anybody ever tell that blithering idiot that it is a bad idea to let an enemy know too much about your intelligence-gathering capabilities.

And then those fools expect us to believe that they can do a better job of national defense than the Democrats. Oy!

The issue was if Americans would be targeted by armed drones or not. What "enemy" do you speak of?

Meaningless fluff, in my wise and generally correct opinion.

There is nothing that an unmanned plane can do that a helicopter can't. this bills trikes me as nothing more than wankers whipping up fear amongst those who can not understand the most basic of principles, politicians cashing in on cheap political points spawned in bad conspiracy theory.

The new law agrees with your position. So, where should you be putting that pen?

It gives the shrieking monkey conspiracy theorist an excuse to act out when anyone even bothers to do an execise to train the drone operators, causing a problem where none would have existed.

There are times when the drones are useful in ordinary police work. There is the case of one rancher out west who was resisting arrest by shooting at sheriff's deputies, so the deputies called for drone support to help locate his position. Then the slimeball tried to get the arrest thrown out because they used the drone.

Some idiot is attempting murder and the cops can be barred from looking at him?

Do think a little more about this.

"White nationalists" are so minor in number why worry? And militias are not illegal.

In such a situation, a warrant is only minutes away. Presto! Problem solved.
