How Much Blame Should Go To Trayvon Martin's Parents ?

The tragic George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case and all the media attention around it seems to have overlooked something important. Trayvon Martin was a minor (17 years old) who committed a violent criminal act. He tried to kill somebody (George Zimmerman). He also was found with women's jewelry in his possession, which he had no explanation for. He also had no explanation for possessing a screwdriver (great for prying open windows), in the same backpack that he had this mysterious jewelry He also was a suspicious character walking around in housing complex late at night, in the rain.

So, being a minor and all these suspicions & transgressions associated with him, how come nobody is looking at the culpability of Trayvon Martin's parents ? (when there are parents of other minors who are serving time in jail for what their kids did)

And what about the idea that Trayvon was not schooled by his parents to be aware of the dangers of the adult world in Florida ? Trayvon's last 12 years were spent in a school environment where thugs are free to go around bullying other kids, while spineless school officials, not wanting to get involved, look the other way. Could it be that Trayvon (unschooled by his parents of the dangers of the streets) just went around acting like the mean streets were equivalent to his little do-what-you-want schoolyard ? Could it be that his parents never mentioned to him that Florida has a concealed weapons license law, and that millions of people in Florida walk the streets carrying guns ? Could it be that Trayvon thought his encounter with George Zimmerman would be just another schoolyard type beating he could lay on somebody, with no questions asked ? I can't help getting the feeling that young (and very naive) Trayvon was like a little toddler wandering in a bear's den, oblivious to the danger. So how do his parents fit into this ?

Lastly, I noticed today on the TV news shows that Trayvon's father was seeking to upgrade Trayvon's name form being cast as a thug. Hmmmm. Could this be because he would like to have less attention paid to the negligence that he and Trayvon's mother exhibited, which might have allowed Trayvon to develop into being a thug, ....just to cover their own asses ?

Yeah, it's their fault that maddog Zimmerman blasted a hole in their son, after being told by police to back off. Of course, the murderer isn't guilty of anything. Gimme a break. They don't fry that killer Zimmerman, and there will be one giant sheetstorm all across the country, and who would blame them? The F'er's guilty. Sentence him to death and be done with it, and restore some shred of credibility to the criminal justice system.

Lynch mob justice does nothing to "restore credibility" to the criminal justice system.

Also great for screwing in screws.

Martin couldn't explain why he had those things?!?! How horrible. He should have resurrected himself as a zombie so he could explain it.

And why the hell would somebody need to explain a screwdriver. It's not exactly contraband.

Incidentally, I do admire and appreciate your use of honest terminology, calling it a screwdriver, instead of "burglar instruments" or whatever they tried to call it.

Nor does letting a killer off on BS do anything good for the justice system. It'll only weaken it, and cause chaos.

Is a screwdriver the thing kids wear today. Is that like a new fashion accessory? Do I need to go get my teenager some screwdrivers so he can have street cred?

It is doubtful the police recommended that firearms be carried by any members of Zimmerman's neighborhood watch committee. Most of these groups are organized with the help and advice of local law enforcement.

If the group in which Zimmerman was a member did not receive an official outline of duties and regulations regarding the actions permitted by such groups, Zimmerman cannot use ignorance of the law as his excuse for arming himself and putting himself into a situation where the use of lethal force would be possible.

A call to 911 is all that was needed and all he should have done. Since Zimmerman went looking for trouble, he deserves to get it.

same old bs spewed by liberal liars. druggie trayvon's mom kicked him out and his dad let him roam the neighborhood knowing what a delinquent he was. yes, they are to blame for alot of it. then there is the violent punk trayvon himself who attacked someone for eyeballing him. btw, george did exactly as he was told by the dispatcher. that lie has been debunked for a while now so you can stop repeating it.

That all depends on the evidence that shows murder . Because you don't like him doesn't mean he shouldn't enjoy the same process as someone else , that could actually weaken the system .

    1. That's undue appreciation, because I did refer to the screwdriver as a burglar instrument, when I said it was "great for prying open windows".

    2. Martin had no need to resurrect himself to explain it. The questions were asked of him at his school in Miami, weeks before the shooting. He had every chance to answer, and just refused. Par for the course for a burglar. They rarely ever admit their crimes.

    3. He would need to explain the screwdriver because it was found together with women's jewelry (typical burglary loot), and if he was just screwing screws, why not just say which screws those were ? Right ?

This is about the most idiotic post I've seen yet, on the Zimmerman issue. LOL. I feel silly even dignifying it with a response.

It doesn't matter what Zimmerman was told by the police dispatcher. Police dispatchers do not have the authority to tell security people (or anyone) what to do,when they are not breaking any laws (as Zimmerman wasn't). They also notoriously lack the knowledge about security that security people have, as evidenced by the stupid remark the dispatcher said ("We don't need you to do that"), which was contrary to official, established state of Florida security procedure, which calls for security people to Observe & Report, necessitating them to follow a mobile suspect.

The only one who could be shown to be a "murderer" is Trayvon Martin, who, 2 eyewitnesses reported, was in the act of committing attempted murder upon George Zimmerman. And if there will be a "giant sheetstorm all across the country", if/whenever Zimmerman is acquitted (which is likely), it will be because of moronic, irresponsible, media talk like you have done here. Please come back here when you have a clue of what's going on here.

At least when you say it's a screwdriver we know what it is.. The term "burglary tool" sounds like a device that is actually designed, and only used for, burglary.

But I really don't see what this has to do with the Zimmerman trial. You're not allowed to shoot somebody just because they got in trouble in school months ago or because they burglarize people and steal their jewelry. If you wanted to be a legitimate vigilante you could make a citizen's arrest. But people talk about how he posed in pictures like a thug and smoked weed and all sorts of things that have zero bearing on the confrontation in which the shooting occurred. I imagine this would be the card played by the Zimmerman defense in court; they might try to convince the jury that Martin is a thug so they must think it's his fault for his shooting death. The prosecution would probably object on relevance.

You did say one thing that is extremely relevant, and that is how he attacked Zimmerman. THAT would be relevant, because it would have bearing on the right to shoot in self-defense.

I don't know whether that happened or not. I would want to know how we know that, as possession of a screwdriver doesn't do it.

I don't profess to have any idea what actually occurred that night.

FALSE! It is quite obvious you know nothing about security or the stupid meddling in it, that police often engage in. Police are not security professionals. They are not who neighborhood watch groups should go to for advice on security, Zimmerman's actions were perfectly proper, in accordance with standards set by the state of Florida, in their Security Officer Class D license course and manual.

Zimmerman was looking for trouble - yes. That is what security people are supposed to do. Look for any kind of trouble (suspicious people, fires, electrical hazards, etc.) and anything that might threaten the public they are defending.

There is no ignorance of the law on Zimmerman's part. He was in full compliance with it. It sounds like YOU are who is ignorant of the law AND standard Florida security procedure.

You are right that he did what the dispatcher said, but he didn't have to, because the dispatcher was wrong in what he said. Security people are supposed to follow suspects and keep them in sight, so as to Observe & Report - always the primary mission of a security person. No surprise that the police dispatcher gave wrong "advice", pertaining to security procedure. They, and the cops, are notorious for that.

Oh look the Protectionist is back. I'm surprised your first thread after your return wasn't one defending the NSA for reading our emails.

IRRELEVANT! Correct security procedure is well established by the Florida Division of Licensing in their Security Officer D License course & manual. And correct security procedure is correct security procedure, NO MATTER WHO IS DOING IT.

And George WAS security on the night of the shooting (license or not).

Don't be surprised. I have defended the NSA, and if they were reading YOUR email, it's only because you've been doing something pretty bad. Hope they catch you.

Florida Division of Licensing in their Security Officer D License course & manual... and they didn't license George.. George was simply a fool with a gun.

How many unarmed teens have you shot walking thru the neighborhood?

How we know it is by 3 things. The eyewitness testimony of a witness anonymously known to the public as "John" (but the police have his full ID). Another witness was a 13 year old boy named Austin Brown. And third, Zimmerman's extensive injuries.

It might be noted that for an acquittal, the defense could actually sit back and say nothing, since conviction depends upon the prosecution to prove Zimmerman guilty (as he is presumed innocent until they do), and they really have no way of doing that. Thus far, I haven't heard a single person state any way of showing that Zimmerman did not act in self-defense. If anyone thinks they have that, let's hear it.
