Valerie Plame Rolls Eyes At Dick Cheney Calling Snowden a Traitor: The Irony! The Huffington Post | By Danny Shea | 06/19/2013 4:13 pm EDT Excerpts: Former CIA agent Valerie Plame said Wednesday that she views NSA leaker Edward Snowden as neither a hero nor a traitor, but that Americans should be grateful that he brought the conversation about liberty and security to the national forefront. "I don't think [Snowden's] a hero, I don't condone what he did. At the same time he's certainly not a traitor as he was called by Dick Cheney," Plame told HuffPost Live host Mike Sacks. "In a way, we as U.S. citizens owe Edward Snowden a thank you for having brought this issue to the forefront and so that we can begin to have a serious and genuine conversation about these issues." Plame also rolled her eyes at Cheney labeling Snowden a traitor, given the Bush administration's involvement in leaking her identity to columnist Robert Novak. "The irony of people like Dick Cheney or Karl Rove whining and bemoaning the fact of the leak of intelligence - given my history and certainly Dick Cheney's intimate involvement with the betrayal of my CIA identity - is really something," she said. Plame called for the resignation of Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, saying that "as a former intelligence officer" she finds it "astounding" that upwards of 60 to 70 percent of the United States' intelligence budget is spent on private contractors. "One question might be, 'Why hasn't the Director of National Intelligence Clapper resigned?' He is ultimately responsible for the safeguarding of these secrets," she said. "How do you propose to keep secrets if you have that high a contracting force? Where is their loyalty? It's not necessarily going to be to their country, to the United States, it's going to be to the person writing their paycheck." Plame said she has "great respect" for journalist Glenn Greenwald, who broke the Snowden story, saying "he has written eloquently for years on these issues in a very serious, sustained manner." She added that she believes the conversation should focus less on Snowden and more on the questions he raised, since "his fate is already foregone." "He will be abused, he will be punished," Plame said of Snowden. Perhaps he could have done it in a different way, but that's not the conversation we should be having. " http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/19/valerie-plame_n_3466824.html?ir=Politics ........ IMO: I think Valerie Plame is correct about Dick Cheney being the instigator of her outing as a CIA secret agent to get revenge on her husband for being the sole proof of his intervention in the Niger Papers scandal when he said that there were no WMDs in Iraq and that no yellowcake had been sold to that country to make the alleged WMDs and that he had told Dick Cheney exactly that, fully a year before GW ordered the invasion of Iraq. IOW: The Bush Regime knew fully a year before they invaded Iraq on March 19, 2003 that there were no WMDs and still invaded for another reason. When Valerie Plames husband Joseph Wilson was interviewed on May 6, 2003, he stated that the government knew about no WMDs a year before and said: Its disingenuous for the State Dept. people to say that they were bamboozled because they knew about this for a year. Valerie Plame was subsequently outed as a CIA secret agent as retribution for her husband telling the truth. Her husband was smeared and Cheney got off, while Vice President of the United States, with a treason coup, and viciously depriving a federal employee of her livelihood. It also shows what governments do to "whistleblowers."
Valerie Plame is a hack and a liar. It was proven without any shadow of a doubt that Dick Cheney and ZERO to do with her name. Everyone who read the investigation knows that it was Richard Armitage who 100% cooperated with the Special Investigator to go after Dick Cheney trying to get him to lie in a "cover up" for his people, which Cheney never did, but poor Scooter Libby got caught in the cross fire. This whole thread and the O.P. published by the Huffington Post is hardcore left wing propaganda written for willing idiots to consume and repeat.
ah the RWs alternate reality of the Bush years... "There is a cloud over the vice president. He sent Libby off to [meet with former New York Times reporter] Judith Miller at the St. Regis Hotel. At that meeting, the two-hour meeting, the defendant talked about the wife [Plame]. We didn't put that cloud there. That cloud remains because the defendant obstructed justice and lied about what happened." -Fitzgerald
Obstructed justice? ROFL! They knew exactly who leaked it from the very start. RICHARD ARMITAGE who was 100% cooperating with Fitzgerald. They knew Cheney did not leak anything. This was a witch hunt. At least be honest enough to admit that.
there were multiple leaks, and armitage cooperated, which is why hes not a convicted felon like the VPs chief of staff is
Did the LYINGASS, PHONY "JANE BOND" manage to ( FINALLY!) remember who, exactly , sent her LYINGASS husband to Africa, after all?
Apparently Valerie Plame is seeking another "15 minutes of fame." And the fact she does NOT consider this guy Snowden a traitor after taking highly classified information and releasing it to the press and China, says a lot about her. She worked for the CIA, for heavens sakes. So I gather from that comment she would have considered doing the same thing IF she rationalized it was for the better good. And BTW, this is an old story..... Richard Armitage from the Pentagon (and no friend of the Bush administration) that released her name to the press. He admitted it under oath and said he didn't believe she was covert and that's why he did so. The Special Prosecutor knew this FACT early on of who really did it.......but went on pursuing the case in order to get a big public win for himself. What they did to Lewis Libby was criminal, IMHO....and Bush was wrong NOT to give him a full pardon at the end of his presidency....since clearly, Libby wasn't the one who released her name. Robert Novak first heard her name from Richard Armitage, and confimed it with another Penatagon source. So, it wasn't the White House at all. You're right; Plame is a hack and a liar.
He is not a traitor. He is a whistleblower. He did not do what manning did. The China hacking (*)(*)(*)(*) was a VERY bad move, and I think he should do time for it. But you cannot have it both ways. You cannot say you always knew, and on the other hand suggest he gave up secrets. And yes... Plame is a hack and a liar.
Fitzgerald must have been dumb as a stump! OF COURSE Libby talked about Plame then by name. Richard Armitage had already released the name and everyone in D.C. already knew the name. Libby didn't think it was a secret at that time; nobody did. Fitzgerald went after somebody for getting some dates and times mixed up.....WHICH, BTW, reporters he questioned including Tim Russert also got some dates and times mised up about what they said and when they said it.....but Fitzgerald didn't indict them! Nope. He was after someone inside the administration; clearly a witch hunt. Bush was wrong NOT to give Libby a full pardon. Fitzgerald should be embarrased at what he was party to.
Which changes the fact that Fitzbullcrap KNEW BEFORE ANY OF THAT that it was ARMITAGE who told NOVAK Plame's name and occupation, how, exactly? Or the FACT that PLame LIED three different times about WHO SENT her fellow LYINGASS husband to Africa, and her involvemetn in it...BEFORE CONGRESS. Libby's meeting with Judith Miller was IRRELEVANT TO THE CASE.
BULLCRAP. Armitage, and ONLY Armitage, told Frank Novak Plame's emploty, although it was a well-known "secret" that Joe Wilson's wife was a desk jockey at CIA, on the Dc "party circuit", of which the Wilson's were ACTIVE members. Meanwhile ,Plame/Wilson have been given a COMPLETE PASS for their NUMEROUS LIES about who, exactly SENT HIM to AFRICA,and her involvement in it, by the Left; JUST LIKE how the LEFT is now trying to give the Obama Adm. a COMPLETE PASS on the NONSTOP LIES of Scandalpalooza.... I think I see a PATTERN here...
I had no idea righties hated special prosecutors so much....or was that only during hte Bush years? because you all seem quite fond of them lately
Her identity should not have been exposed. The wrong person went to jail. It is a stain on that administration... which setup the tools for this administration. It would be a great shame if that happened again... wouldn't you agree? If the wrong people went to jail... wouldn't that be an actual shame?
He had a POLITICAL AGENDA; he KNEW who "leaked" Plame's name BEFORE his "investigation". "Special prosecutor"? Are you seriously suggesting that the insanely CORRUPT Obama Adm. would RISK THAT?
And after ALL the recent scandals from the Obama administration....how many Special Prosecutors have been named: ZERO. Fast & Furious Gun running program Bin Ghazi investigations squashed State Dept sex investigations squashed IRS culprit taking the 5th IRS targeting citizens for their poltical beliefs Obama publically calling for the targeting of citizens for their poltical beliefs Democrats Senators demanding that the IRS target conservatives. Clueless Holder not knowing anything that's going on about anything that's happening! Apparently it's now okay with Dems to hear this answer over and over again...."I'll have to find out and get back to you,"..."I can't recall now"...."I have no memory of that..." "I just don't know."....and numerous other versions. He's either an extremly DUMB guy or just not in to his job much.
