Obama's plan of dragging everyone down to a miserable level is working as design.

Millions of people are losing their health insurance because of Obama and now they have to buy a plan that cost more, has higher deductible and higher co-pays even though they were completely happy with the plans they had.

Not only are people spending less, they're short tempered, angry and broken.

There is nothing to look forward to or be hopeful of.

Record crowds over weekend, but spending declined

You are so funny with your constant attempts at fear mongering in an effort to "blame President Obama!"

And, as usual, you are WRONG:

So. . .YES, if you thought you could blame President Obama for "lower sales," I assume you will be ready to REALLY THANK HIM for those HIGHER SALES!

Please note that the "Northeast" decline in sale corresponds to that terrible storm they had. . .

And that, although the BLACK FRIDAY sales were lower. . .it is attributed to the number of people who decided to go out and shop (how eager they were to spend money. . .thanks to Obama, right?) on THANKSGIVING DAY, and those shopping on line.

SPENDING INCREASED IN ALL AREAS BUT THE NORTHEAST!

    DUH! :roflol:

So. . .Yes. . .THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA! (Although he obviously had nothing to do with it. . .but since you are so willing to blame him for the NEGATIVE. . .you should also "blame him" for the POSITIVE!)

    And:

I wonder if maybe your name means that you only look at 2009 stats? :roflol:

Yes it depend on whether you include the T'giving Day figures in with Black Friday.

    It is Obama's fault
that after 6 years people are afraid to spend money as opposed to save it, or do not have money to spend.
People are economically insecure. And he said if he could not repair the economy in four years, he did not deserve reelection.
Obama even has admitted too much of the nation's income goes to too few.
    Yet he serves the few.
I voted for Obama in '08 and he lied to me.
I have not detested the sight of a President as much as him since LBJ & NIXON.

A LARGE DROPOFF in the Northeast, will moe than offset modest gains elsewhere.

Sorry about your desperate spin attempts; we've all learned that there is no end to the girations the Obamapologists will go through, to avoid the obvious Truth.

But, I'm sure "It's Bush's Fault", anyway, just like the continuing and growing Obamacare debacle is "the Republicans' Faulyt", as well.

Stating facts is not automatically Obamapologists as you call them.

IF you can stay in the realm of facts, you will see the same people also not liking him too. Now let's get past this stupid school yard 'oh-so-clever' name calling and start staying in the facts. If the sales were up, the sales were up. Also, throwing Obamacare into your so-called 'argument' is a sure sign of someone who doesn't know (*)(*)(*)(*) from Shinola.

So it means that the average American now has to consider squeezing blood from a
nickel. Not just going out shopping for any sales, but because they have to.
So yes,it's key to notice that shoppers are out in full force. But their average
check { fast food term for how much the average person spends } is down.
Probably considerably.Of course shoopers are also stocking up on items
    when there at their cheapest.

Ok, Mommy. Let me re-state what , apparently, so confused you:

A LARGE DROPOFF in the Northeast, will more than offset modest gains elsewhere.

Which is EXACTLY what happened, according to the source of the poster to who I was responding, in addition to the complete IGNORING of the fact that his/her "OBAMAPOLOGIST" source added an ENTIRE EXTRA SHOPPING DAY (Thanksgiving Day) to the totals.

"Obamapologist" is a DEFTLY ACCURATE TERM, when wielded properly, and it was.

Try to deal with, or grow a skin.

But, as we see, (unfortunately for the OBAMAPOLGISTS), even trying that "little trick", of adding T-giving Day, DOESN'T MAKE THE NUMBERS "UP" from LAST YEAR:

Thanksgiving shopping becomes social, but spending down

Thanksgiving night shopping looked like a new family tradition this year as stores opened earlier and consumers took advantage of the extra time to spread out their Black Friday shopping.

The Thursday-through-Sunday tally, though, was less buying overall, according to data from several firms.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday combined brought in an estimated $12.3 billion in sales, according to shopping analytics firm ShopperTrak. Thanksgiving Day traffic grew 27% as nearly one-third of shoppers headed to stores on the holiday, according to the National Retail Federation. Many retailers opened earlier than ever, some at 5 or 6 p.m. Kmart opened at 6 a.m.

Overall spending was expected to reach $57.4 billion for the weekend, according to the retail federation. That's down from $59.1 billion last year.

Everybody's money is being siphoned off to higher energy and food costs, so how can holiday sales do anything but go down?

I think people are tired of being battered by the bastardization of holidays and the rampant materialism in America. People are growing tired of hyper capitalism. I guess you can thank Obama for that too since he is a super hyper capitalist. Of course a poor economy that is being hurt by a hyper capitalist/corporatist like Obama is part of the reason why sales are down. No doubt people have less money but the positive is that it's making people look more into the real ideals behind the holidays and getting away from the materialistic parts of them. So in a way, thanks Obama.

Duh!. . .Why shouldn't we include those sales with Black Friday? You believe that the sales done on Thursday will not help improve our economy? That ONLY sales on Black Friday will help?

Look at the TOTAL for the beginning of the "holiday season 2013," and also to the predictions.

Sometimes it seem that people's logic is clearly influenced by their political ideology and their "hatred!"

NO! What the "average person spends" HAS NOT BEEN SHOWN TO BE DOWN. . .BUT UP!

Look at the EVIDENCE, not just your wishful thinking to destroy this country's economy in an effort to destroy President Obama!

    SALES ARE NOT DOWN!

Can't you people read? Is that why Fox News has so much fun spreading lies. . .because people don't bother to CHECK the FACTS?

I provided 2 factual sources. . .and there are plenty more out there to check and confirm that, for the EARLY holiday period AT LEAST, sales are UP!

And. ..Obama haters had better make up their mind and get together to decide if "Obama is a Marxist, Communist, Socialist," or the "super hyper capitalist" you accuse him of being!

You just can't have it both ways. . .and stating those two extremes is an oxymoron . . .obviously it doesn't show much smart!

Yep! All of those items are part of the "HOLIDAY SHOPPING" of course!

Price of gas is LOWER than during Bush's presidency! The only reason they went down in the Fall of 2008, is because of the major economic crisis triggered by Bush's policies!

OBVIOUSLY Chicken and most food will go up over time . . .DUH!

But. . .LOOK AT THE LEVEL OF INFLATION. . .VERY LOW!

Electric rates have tripled. . .NOT in my home! Yes, they have gone up . . .as everything else. . .but CERTAINLY NOT TRIPLED!

So sales are up? I've seen articles saying they are down, some saying they are up. I guess it depends on what you want to believe. Either way I still stand by what I said in terms of people being sick with the materialistic part of holidays. I'll still shop at local stores and enjoy the holiday the way I enjoy it!

I've never thought Obama was a socialist. To think such a thing is to immediately prove that you don't know a thing about Socialism. I also don't hate him. I don't personally know him. I don't like his policies just like I didn't like George W. Bush's policies....probably because they are almost identical.

I hope that didn't hurt you. I'm not so black and white.

Okay. . .why don't you post those articles saying that sales are down for the beginning of the Holiday season. . .not just for Thanksgiving day. . .or for Black Friday. . .but for the whole period SINCE Thanksgiving day. . .

    Please go ahead. . .

The ONLY thing I agree with in your comments (and the previous one) is that people are being sick with the materialistic part of the holidays, and that (as one article stated) people have decided that shopping on Thanksgiving day wasn't quite as fun (or as smart) as they thought last year. . .they are going back to making Thanksgiving a FAMILY holiday. Still. . .because stores are open on Thanksgiving day, SOME people have shopped on Thursday instead of Friday. . .which has lowered (only so slightly) the sales for Friday.

All in all. . .the sales are up all around. . .except in the North East. . .which will probably catch on Cyber Monday!

So what is your complaint about Obama - that he hasn't unleashed the power of capitalism to grow the economy and create good paying jobs, or that his use of government in pursuit of "social justice" has smothered the economy and cost millions of good paying jobs? You can't have it both ways. Do you want opportunity and prosperity, or equality in hopelessness and poverty?
