Is that pork? Alcohol? Sorry, sir, you have to see another cashier.

Marks and Spencer will become sharia compliant for the new year.

Muslim cashiers can refuse to handle your haram purchases.

Customers w/ pork and alcohol products should therefore avoid cashiers they suspect of being Muslim.

    Isn't diversity great?

Yea, just read about it. Small time story, considering all UK is doing lately to appease moslems and to conform to everything Islamic...

So, how does it works now at M&S - every checkout with moslem cashier has a sign like below, or a customer has to look at cashier and determine if he/she's a moslem or not? :roflol:

This, actually, is a great point, and one applying for a job at M&S should insist he/she is more qualified than moslem, and thus should have an advantage

This is awesome. It's great to see that the UK is respecting various different faiths.

They had their mandated by law equivalent of Affirmative Action waaaaaay before the United States did and so they probably have no choice not even when it comes to what positions inside retail a 'minority' works. The chain probably made the decision to protect itself from possible lawsuits and is going to stand by that decision even in the face of losing market share as disgusted or angered customers simply go elsewhere. Yay leftwingism . . . because that stuff NEVER negatively impacts businesses or the economy. Yeah . . . riiiiiiiiiiiight!

of course if you don't like it don't shop there and frankly if enough people do that it will change back. But obviously the company finds making this change to make their employees happy is a good move over all.

Infidels should routinely avoid Muslims anyway. All of them have proudly made it clear that they hate you. Whether you have pork or booze or not, a Muslim cashier might suddenly go Jihadist while checking you out, or leave an unwanted gift in your grocery bag.

Don't try to be cute and mischievous and try to provoke them. They are uncannily loyal to their religion and just doing their duty as commanded by their God. Respect them. Let them alone and hopefully they'll let you alone.

Happy Ramadan, Kwanzaa, seasonal holidays, etc.

They should start respecting Hindu cashiers who don't want to handle beef.

    I can't wait.

Not gonna happen - Hindus are normal folks and will never make such demands. Neither will Jews.

Neither of those stores are in my area...but, if they were I would not shop there.

Religion does not belong in retail....anywhere.

Christians and Jews are not infidels... They are people of the book.. recipients of earlier revelations.

I disagree, Margot, we're not talking about ancient times. For all intents and purposes, every non-moslem is an infidel.

Yes, and thank you for asking -- may you be enlightened.

In the Koran and Islamic world, an infidel is synonymous with both Christians and Jews. Some "moderate" Muslims attempt to claim that infidels are "People of the Book," which seems to be some sort of method to dodge the question through the usage of some coded, gibberish. Nevertheless, it is generally assumed and clearly understood all over the globe that infidels are ... Christians, Jews and everyone else who is not Islamic.

Hopefully, your question has been answered, and you're welcome. For further enlightenment, inquire of Google.

I am a Christian who spent nearly 2 decades in the Arab world.. You are absolutely wrong about the meaning of infidel.. You should also know infidel is a 15th century Latin or French word that means pledging fealty to a lord or king... In Islam the word is "unbelievers".. Jews and Christians are believers in the God of Abraham.

Oh, this reminds me of the time when I was denied service at the checkout line for being over 20 and still single.

Hey, people, if the cashier refuses to give you service, for any reason, you should just walk out. Let them handle putting the stuff away. There are a lot of other starving businesses who will be happy to serve you, and they are, perhaps, more deserving of your hard earned money.
