"where are you going to get people to work to clean our hotel rooms or do our landscaping?"

The Florida Democrat party needs to buy her a calendar with the year on it. It's 2014 not 1854. I'm sure the Southern Plantation Owners were asking the same questions when Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

Is she asking "where are you going to get people to work to clean our hotel rooms or do our landscaping?" or where will we get the people to work for coolie labor wages? The market should set the wages. If they can't get anyone to do their landscaping and clean their hotel rooms for $8 an hour, then they have to try again raising the wages to $9, $10 and so on till they attract people willing to work for the wages offered. Obviously businesses in higher cost of living areas will need to pay more to attract workers and those in low cost of living areas can pay less. If they can't survive as a business paying a wage that actually attracts citizens to work, then they aren't in the right business.

What sort of pretzel logic does it take to want to give amnesty to millions of illegals which only serves to drive DOWN wages, then in the next breath want to raise the minimum wages. Why not through aggressive employer enforcement make it near impossible for an employer to hire illegals in the first place? This could be be done using the SSA and IRS databases to ferret out folks working using forged, duplicate or children's social security numbers. Send the employer a notice they need to eVerify all suspect employees or face HUGE fines and jail time, making eVerify mandatory for all new and current employees.
