I got the link to this article from the Human Events blog and have no idea what the framework of the organization is. It just makes a lot of sense to me and that's why I'm sharing it.

How can this be when we have major areas of the US in the midst of severe drought? Maybe all the Globull Warming hype is simply a way to hike food costs?

Heartland also denies tobacco causes cancer, it's nothing but a propaganda arm for the energy industry protecting its economic interests...when you get real scientists backing your assertions that agw cc is a fraud let us know...

The United States is not the world and the present is not the future. As for now you might want to check with China and how they are doing in the food department.

As far as where US agricultural production will be at in the future you might want to check out this interactive map.

The framework of the organization is to deny science. Heartland was the "think tank" responsible for telling us that smoking doesn't cause cancer, and now they're telling us that climate change is a hoax. Heartland is basically a bunch of idiots with deep pockets funded by big tobacco and big oil.

Because a lot of hybridized crops have been introduced since 1970, and a lot of fertilizer-dependent (hence energy dependent) hybrids have been introduced since 1970. The more our agriculture becomes dependent upon energy-intensive fertilizer, the more and more food prices are tied to energy prices.

South Sudan promises 'unimpeded' aid access amid famine
Feb 21,`17 -- South Sudan's president said Tuesday his government will ensure "unimpeded access" for all aid organizations, a day after famine was declared for more than 100,000 people in the country suffering from years of civil war.

No it doesn't. Smoking tobacco clearly is linked to cancer but the conclusion that second hand smoke causes cancer has not been proved using a 3 sigma criteria but only a 2 sigma criteria. That is what Richard Lindzen has correctly pointed out.

GMO crops require less water, fertilizer, and weed killers. But the lefties deny the real science which shows that GMO crops have never harmed anyone.

Please explain how in the world GM crops use less fertilizer and pesticides. GM crops are based on chemicals. Better farming systems are out there and smart farmers are rejecting conventional agriculture and switching to regenerative farming practices.

What ?? Do some homework on GM crops which require less water, fertilizer, and pesticides. These offer great benefits to third world countries whose farmers cannot afford the chemicals. And yet Europe bans these GM food products for no good reason thus damaging the economies of those third world countries. That is immoral.

How are they going to be able to afford patented seeds if they cannot afford seven dust? While they may offer higher yields, you are kidding yourself if you think these are developed with the two acre farmer in mind. They are designed so that the two acre farmer cannot compete with whichever Archer Daniels Midland subsidiary is buying up their country's agricultural operations.

GMO Crops Mean More Herbicide, Not Less - Forbes GM crops use more chemical inputs.

Our foreign aid comes in the form of dumping surplus food on them so I am doubting that helps their profitability any.

I am not arguing against GM seeds, just that I think you fail to appreciate how pervasive big ag is in the developing world and how detrimental that is to local farmers.

Foreign aid? That is just dumb. Our future depends on topsoil and the fact that it rains. Conventional agriculture is nutrient mining and puts nothing of value back. That is why areas with 50 inches of rainfall have to use an additional 50 inches of irrigation and expensive fertilizer and herbicides...with additional pesticides because of the destruction of biodiversity. Remember... cide means to kill.

It helps them become self sufficient by developing their own agricultural industry. Our ethanol program raised food prices which hurt developing countries and low income people.

And GMO crops use less of everything.

I'll call bs on this one. You need to do pre emergence, post emergence, and massive amounts of fertilizer because the base( soil) has been degraded. It also involve s fungicide, pesticide, and more increasingly irrigation. And when you rotate gm corn and gm soybeans you have weeds. The soybean in the corn field and the corn in the soybean field. You you have to add another herbicide to control your herbicide resistant weed such as 2-4D.

For now. The way India is gobbling up their cotton market, they might just steal that river too.
