A great article about the US Coast Guard and a ship whose keel was laid in 1967! I remember a push under Pres Bush II when, under the Patriot Act, the USCG was included in the Homeland Security Department, an effort was kicked off to upgrade the aging fleet some ships dating from WWII and many who saw service in SE Asia.
