The electorate certainly wouldn't have punished him for not disclosing receipt of a 3k bottle of the best. I think his only memory fail was forgetting he penned his little note of thankyou. He lied in an attempt to maintain his squeaky clean image, but quickly realised that all integrity he built up is virtually gone due to his little white lie.

Some are blaming the role of ICAC I see???

I am not surprised not to see the right wingers on this one, hey, one of yours has crossed the line.....

At the end of the day, whether Labor or Libs, it is all about power and finally money.

Surely it can slip ones mind, that a bottle of a $3k red was given to you. Happens to me almost daily.....

Then there are others who pay their whores with union funds. What is the difference?

    Zero..... it is called corruption!!!
    Regards

Corruption to the extreme point of bleeding what should have been a very wealthy country DRY. A country that now has to sell itself like a cheap crack whore. Thank the idiots who want to go the the same circus every three years and vote in the same clowns with different face paint. :wall: Sorry people, but if it talks like a clown, dresses like a clown, and acts like a clowns, the odds suggest its a clown, nothing else. :roflol:

Wrong, corruption can`t be tolerated in any form. It`s not just a question of right or left, if anything, the left is generally more tolerant of corruption than the right. In recent years, we have had numerous examples of the left supporting corrupt individuals within it`s ranks. Corruption in any form is a malignant cancer that eats away at the entirety of any system that it infects. No country that allows corruption can function effectively.

The O`Farrel case isn`t about a bottle of wine, it`s about deliberate deceit. There is no circumstance that could absolve O`Farrel`s actions. For example, if O`Farrel actually did forget the incident, he stands condemned of gross incompetence. He should have had in place, a system of recording ALL income, just like the rest of us.

There are many areas of concern in the political arena of today, but one encouraging sign is Australia`s growing intolerance of corruption. It`s fair to say that corruption is to be expected in human nature. There will always be corruption. What matters, is how we deal with it.

More coming out now. The links with big business and their corrupt practices will be revealed. This is why there will be a bipartisan political attack on ICAC.

Like I said, you are doing much better but still a way to go before you pose a convincing argument for any of us to understand. Don't smash yourself over it, just give it a couple more years, you'll be fine!

The difference between the political corruption within Australian politics and the corrupt politics of a third world African country - NONE.

Its very difficult to believe that someting like this still happens in 2014. It just seems stuff like this would happen a few steps from the cave entrance; not this far down the road.

I know what you mean. O`Farrel probably wasn`t even corrupt in the real sense, but FFS, wouldn`t one of the FIRST priorities of anyone in public life, be to take steps, have a recording system in place to make one`s self immune to this type of crap? The O`Farrel example just shows the slackness, complacency of these aphids.

He was either deceived by flattery in the excitement of gaining power after years of rejection or was simply looking after one of his lobbyist pals. Probably a little of the former but mostly the latter. All he needed to do was act in the public interest not his own.

The LNP are quick to point the finger while all the time having skeletons jammed in their own closets. It has become a very strong deceptive trait of the right in recent years. Hopefully people will see through the deception.

Outgoing praise for O'farrell was how he cleaned up the state of NSW. He cleaned up nothing, the state was head and shoulders above everybody else. He certainly didn't clean up the corruption!

As I have said numerous time before, this just demonstrates how politicians think they are omnipotient Gods above everyone else. They even make-out its the end of the world, and want us to feel sorry for them, when they lose their jobs through corruption and lies. :roflol:
