So a private business owner has enough money to BUY HIS WAY TO THE SUPREME COURT and determine HIS EMPLOYEES reproductive choices and now has enough money to create a BIBLE CURRICULUM as he sees fit and have it installed in PUBLIC SCHOOLS. ELECTIVE MY A,. How many of you believe it will ONLY be an elective?? Just wait!

According to the Religious News Service, the “Museum of the Bible Curriculum” created by Hobby Lobby’s President Steve Green (pictured above) will be beta-tested in Oklahoma’s Mustang Public School district beginning in the Fall of 2014.Green hopes the program — which will be overseen by Jerry Pattengale, head of the Green Scholars Initiative — will be placed in “hundreds” of high schools by 2016, and “thousands” by 2017. It is a four-year elective course in which students will study the narrative, history, and impact of the Bible on Western Civilization. Because the book is being taught within an academic purview, it does not violate the Establishment Clause of the Constitution as interpreted by the Supreme Court in Abington School District v. Schempp.

“Nothing we have said here indicates that such study of the Bible,” the Court decided, “when presented objectively as part of a secular program of education, may not be effected consistently with the First Amendment.”

    Great news.

America is built upon Christian principles. Our Constitution is unfit for a secular people.

Slavery is in the bible, as is treating women as a lesser unequal sex, so I guess that is kind of true.
Think it is a good thing we moved away from that though.

Sometimes the latter is necessary for the former.

And... How comfortable would you be bypassing an "elective" on Mormonism and Joseph Smith if you lived in a small community in southern Utah? No people will go along with the crowd in power, it's how we get our Nazi's, Taliban's and Spanish Inquisitions.

NOT when your or anyone's religion is being shoved down my throat and that of CHILDREN in a public school.
Imagine for a NY NANOSECOND that Judaism was being taught in NYC public schools. LAUGHABLE!!!

I think the founders of this country realized the dangers of mixing cult and myth worship with politics, which is why the document our country is built upon, the Constitution, does not mention flying sky fairies or fabled Jewish magicians.

Then YOU still don't understand the founders, history or the CONSTITUTION. NO surprise.

it's an elective. However, in Cali, it is mandated to discuss which historic figures engaged in the homosexual lifestyle and "Harvey Milk Day" is celebrated.

Are you consistent? Do you think they should mention which historic figures had gay sex and make it mandatory to do so?
