“When the Secretary determines that assistance is necessary in enforcing Federal laws and regulations relating to the public lands or their resources he shall offer a contract to appropriate local officials having law enforcement authority within their respective jurisdictions with the view of achieving maximum feasible reliance upon local law enforcement officials in enforcing such laws and regulations.”

It seems the BLM has no authority to act unilaterally as law enforcement on public lands. Tsk Tsk.
If for no other reason its clear why the BLM EVENTUALLY backed down.
I think a complete investigation is in order.

Steve Stockman is the loon who said "if babies had guns then there wouldn't be abortions" and then brought Ted "Poopy-Pants Draft Dodger" Nugent to the SOTU address.

He never met a conspiracy theory he didn't fall in love with.

Btw EggKiller.. you stay away from my daughter's Easter Egg hunt tomorrow. ;)

And what happens when local law enforcement does not want to cooperate for political reasons?

The law does not mean "every time" but it mean that it is within the discretion of the Secretary to offer such contracts. In other words, it is a choice, based on available facts, whether local law enforcement shall be utilized in enforcing federal law. In addition, local law enforcement can reject such offers but in said rejection does not hinder the execution of said laws at the federal level.

Guys like Colbert and Stewart were really afraid that when Bushie mercifully left the building they'd run out of material.

Then along came the *********s! :D

We know what happens when federal law enforcement acts for political reasons. That's why there's a law which you obviously haven't read. "Maximum feasible reliance" was not met or even attempted.

There wasn't anything political about the Bundy situation. It was business between several parties, including the Bundy's.

    What business? What parties?
At least now you realize the BLM broke the law in confronting American Citizens with the force of arms.

The political aspects have yet to be determined.

A court order which gives the BLM the right to contract local law enforcement.
Show me in the court order where the BLM is given the authority to arm 200 agents.

You are very wrong here Eggkiller. No court found any wrong doing on the BLM.

Are you speaking of the thread title? I will admit it was poorly constructed. They were found in the wrong by a congressman not a court.

Thread tilte and pretty much everything in your conspiracy theory. Bundy was warned well in advance. Federal agents are armed period end of file. You posted a letter from a Republican who is no judge and has authority as proof. First you need to show where a judge ruled against the BLM for using armed agents. Then and only then is anyone responcible to show you what you want.

Ill give you the chance to reread and reformulate that opinion of yours. It makes no sense.

So you think there was no county law enforcement there? You think Clark County Sheriff Douglas Gillespie had no hand in the court ordered process? Where do you get your information from?

Dollface is absolutely correct. Some lame brained Congressman doesn't have the authority to rule on actions one way or another. Neither the White House nor the BLM have been found in violation of any law. You cannot count the fevered fantasies of ignorant teatards.

Yes he has no authority to rule.
Why would they need to be "found" in violation of the law to be in violation of the law?
Do we as a society not know murder is a violation of the law without actually committing the act and subsequent trial?

This is a very lame arguement! Just admit the so called Tea Partier has no judical backing and is just praying to his base. he is just another rightwing nut that trumped up a conspiracy theory to get the knuckle draggers to cry outrage.

Lame argument? You just said unless and until a court finds something is illegal then it must be legal. You wrote the book on lame arguments.
