No one is defending him personally they are defending against the over-reach of the govts power. There are plenty of racists in our country, we even have one in the white house. That doesn't mean you can send govt snipers out to shoot them. We are supposed to handle things like this in a civil manner. It is a most excellent question and the answer would be a partial split ( I'm just guessing here obviously), with some of them promoting the fracking side and with some of them going for Bundy's Homestead or Property Rights -- or whatever the actual issue happens to be. I haven't been following this all that closely and mainly because it seems to me that there is both a little bit of justification and a bit of wrong on both sides on this one.

(Shrug) I don't know what Bundy said along racist lines and nor do I care. So far as I can tell he's not running for office and so his personal beliefs regarding race is a non-starter so far as the validity of his stand-off with a government bureaucracy is concerned.

Sounds like he was giving you facts and you didn't like em. Do you also dislike the fact that we have ~17 counties in this country where >90% of the black population is on food stamps? I mean I dislike that fact also, but reporting facts doesn't make you a racist.
