I do not begrudge the decades of Affirmative Action, Special Opportunities, etc.
even as I suffered unemployment so females and non Whites got their jobs.
But, after some five decades of these programs it seems to me they are more destructive than helpful.
By design they are racist and remind everyone of racism by color coding everyone.

Isn't it time "we" moved from racially based affirmative action to economically based affirmative action -
if there is to be affirmative action at all.

    Government sponsored bean counting by color should stop if racism is to be extinguished;
These programs remind us "to be" racist in the event we forgot.

I am pretty sure nobody would have a problem with them going away, as long as, the Good Ole Boy Network doesn't become to big, again.

Yes affirmitive action is racism and sexism. It's giving someone an advantage over someone else based on nothing more than their race and gender.

    No, Not Really.
The Rules are Freedom from Race, Gender, Sexual Preference discrimination.
Affirmative action is by its' nature contrary to the above.
Sure, some decades were appropriate to balance out historical wrongs.

The Martin Family of Trayvon fame had 3 generations to leave the ghetto.
Get a Post Office job, go to college, red carpet job opportunities and promotions, whatever.
Any product affirmative action may realize has been accomplished. The smart ones took advantage of the opportunity. The Martins did not, for 3 generations.

Support Non Race, Non Gender & Non Sexual Preference based opportunities for the economically disadvantaged; always offering the "smart ones" a chance to improve their lives.

we wouldn't need affirmative action if our elected representatives could muster up the Faith they claim to have in public venues, and apply it to a federal doctrine and State laws regarding employment at will.

Help the economically disadvantaged - yes! Help particular racial, gender, or ethnic groups - no! The latter means rich, well educated, and privileged black people or women get help they don't need, while poor, uneducated, and scorned white men get nothing. That's bad policy and morally wrong - obviously so. The reason Democrats still support it is that they're patronizing their voting blocs. If it ever righted wrongs, that time is past.

Life shouldn't be a Punch & Judy show. My karma today will be yours tomorrow. If you want justice, you have to start by being just. Remember what Gandhi said about "being the change that you wish to see in the world."

My understanding is that Britain has a worse problem with racial and ethnic conflict than the US, and a large stratum of the population which has come to feel entitled to live off the rest. My karma caught up with you before it even reached me.

i for one think condalezza rice's kids, micheal jordans kids, and colin powell's kids should get affirmitive action because they're disadvanteged.

    Thank You

If you understood the concept of karma, you would understand that the wheel keeps turning for all of us everywhere. That would include you.

The way I see it, the black man was enslaved and/or completely discriminated for around 190 years after the founding of our country, so we still owe them around another 125 years or so of affirmative action.

No, according to your reasoning your karma is based on what everyone who shares your race and gender has ever done, including people who did things before you were even born.

yes, my karma is unique to me and your karma is unique to you. Its like this, you have lets say, 98% bad karma, your next door neighbour may have 95% bad karma etc etc. My Karma is probably about 25% bad. Its quite simple.

AA; just another government program that doesn't solve for a simple social dilemma under any form of Capitalism.

What a bizarre notion. You really don't understand the concept of karma, do you? You really shouldn't post about ideas you don't grasp.

If you truly did, you would grasp that karma is the consequence of an action; as such it is neither good nor bad, it just is. You seem to believe it is some kind of cosmic payback machine. This turns out not to be the case.
