William Hague Resigns as Britains Foreign Secretary..... In a surprise announcement, William Hague, Britains foreign secretary, said late Monday that he would quit his job to take a lower-profile cabinet position as part of a wider shuffle of the government. Mr. Hague, a former leader of the Conservative Party and one of its most prominent politicians, will remain a minister until the next general election in 2015 as the leader of the House of Commons, a post with responsibility for the management of legislation. Mr. Hagues announcement surprised politicians, even though a reshuffle of important government figures had been widely anticipated. Hague was actually demoted in a cabinet reshuffle aimed at including more women because polls indicate that the Tories are unpopular among female voters. Middle-aged men like Gove were replaced with fresh-faced female ministers ahead of the next general election in May and the Conservatives may actually win another general election. New Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond would aim at clawing powers back from Brussels and he could back leaving the EU.
