I feared, all along, that the current "talks" with Iran--and the attendant suspension of sanctions--were designed merely to avoid the need for direct confrontation, at all costs; and that their failure would simply not be allowed.

Well, it appears (sadly) that I was correct. Secretary of State John Kerry--which is to say, his boss, President Obama--has now agreed to extend these (unproductive) "talks" until November 24; by which time, presumably, some sort of deal will be patched together that will allow Iran to keep its centrifuges, and be very close to "breakout" capacity. Either that, or the "talks" will be extended once again. Anything/ to avoid confrontation.

Oh, here is the link: Iran nuclear talks to be extended for 4 months | Fox News

Heya PJ. [IMG] Not only did these talks get extended. But now we will give the Iranians another 2.8 billion of their frozen assets.

BO and his team are now trying to play this out as.....a Bad deal is better than No deal. Well the Democratic Senator Menendez says Congress doesn't think BO should be handing out more money to extend talks that are not producing results. His concern by Team BO is that to much focus is put on the Words of a Bad deal is better than no deal.

As the goal is for a good deal and not a bad deal.....Period.

This is a sign that things are never gong to work out in the near term and, will be far more difficult to deal with for any future administration and may actually lead to a universe of hurt. Obama took the easy way out like Chamberlain and took some paper assurances against hard actions. Iran knew they could get away with it as Obama is a weak leader so, they get what they want and so begins the spiral where they continue to get what they want until it becomes an untenable situation and suddenly, it has to be dealt with but, it has gone too far to be brought back from the brink of violent action.

Mornin DB. [IMG] Moreover.....once their Ayatollah speaks out again. Then it is always followed by some delay. In the meantime.....the money will help Iran to arm Hamas and Hezbollah with more Rockets.

Well that too but I was trying to say that when a person is given enough rope and p** poor parameters they will run with it and, Iran will habitually do so just as Saddam did with his thwarting of inspections. In the end, a situation will probably develop where the world is so concerned that it is serious and prepared to take action but Iran out of habit will not take it seriously having invested so much of it's money and bandwidth into their aspiration.

Sort of like them thinking we don't care and we don't but one day, we all wake up and we do but Iran is still in the same old same mode and will refuse to even take the world's demands seriously whatsoever.

Well.....I hope Menendez leads the way with not allowing BO to just up some money to extend negotiations. BO and his Team should have known this whole time that Iran was looking to extend talks, while trying to get more of their money.

Due to the Sanctions.....Hamas got less money and less rockets than they ever have before. Now to turn around and give them them the extra money. They will just resupply Hamas.

With which, they can continue to target Israel (which they wish to destroy; it is even in Hamas' charter). And they can do so from hospitals, schools, and other places replete with vulnerable citizens; so that whenever Israel counterattacks, in mere self-defense, Hamas can trumpet its ready-made propaganda.
