    It is worth noting that some things never change.

    Marius' Roman Legionnaires carried about 80 pounds of gear as they marched. Same as today.

    The kit from WWI for a British soldier. The rifle is a Lee Enfield 303 bolt action rifle; I've got one dating from around 1942, and it is one helluva rifle. Better than the German 98K mauser bolt action used around the same time frame, I've got one of those also. I collect WW2 rifles and as much as I love the M1 Garand, the prize is the Lee Enfield 303.
