The move is an apparent shift after Chief Thomas Jackson initially said that the name would be released by 12 p.m. on Tuesday. The department reportedly chose to delay releasing the name out of fear for the officer's safety. Police said Brown, who was unarmed, was shot multiple times Saturday after being confronted by a white officer in Ferguson, a town that is nearly 70 percent black. The FBI opened an investigation into Brown's death on Monday. Authorities have offered vague details about the confrontation but said the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave. Local residents have taken to the Ferguson streets in demonstrations that have been both violent and peaceful. IMO: The death of an unarmed 18 year old black person by a policeman who shot Michael Brown multiple times has led to widespread protests, concerns, and questions as to who the policeman is, where he is, and why did he shoot Michael? While we wait to see what caused another black death of an unarmed man, the FBI will go on with its investigation as to what took place preceding the shooting. Chief Justice Roberts is surely asking himself the question why this incident happened if there is no more discrimination in America...of course he wouldn't know anyway, he lives in a gated community, with security. He needs to get out and see America as it really is, not as he rationalizes it is, possibly to add some credibility to his some of his rulings.
I imagined Vince McMahon saying that. If they did release the name of the cop he would be killed pretty quickly and rightfully so. Eventually his name will get out though as I'm sure he'll be sued in at least a civil case by Michael Brown's family.

going for an officer's gun will get you shot (and possibly killed) no matter what your skin color.... I'm curious, after the cop's name is released, how long it will take Roseanne and Spike Lee to post the address of the cop's parents on twitter (or someone with the same name) The cops immediate family is going to be put in harms way and threatened by race-baiters and they will justify it as collateral damage in order to loot them some more shoes tonight.

because, nothing short of "the officer was a racist, and so is this police department, so he is fired and everyone working here is also fired and must report directly to jail" will appease the race baiters. Even if the investigation of the cop shows he did everything right, by the book, etc, people won't believe it.
So far there is a witness saying that Michael Brown had both hands out of the car when shot. Pretty hard to shoot an officer when both your hands are out of the window of a car. We will see where this goes.
