With riots raging in Ferguson, MO following the shooting death by police of an unarmed African-American youth, the nation has turned its eyes toward social injustice and the continuing crisis of race relations. Here are The Onions tips for being an unarmed black teen in America: Shy away from dangerous, heavily policed areas. Avoid swaggering or any other confident behavior that suggests you are not completely subjugated. Be sure not to pick up any object that could be perceived by a police officer as a firearm, such as a cell phone, a food item, or nothing. Explain in clear and logical terms that you do not enjoy being shot, and would prefer that it not happen. Dont let society stereotype you as a petty criminal. Remember that you can be seen as so much more, from an armed robbery suspect, to a rape suspect, to a murder suspect. Try to see it from a police officers point of view: You may be unarmed, but youre also black. Avoid wearing clothing associated with the gang lifestyle, such as shirts and pants. Revel in the fact that by simply existing, you exert a threatening presence over the nations police force. Don't try beat up shop owners and cops. Don't steal, it's a crime. Walk on the sidewalk (not down the middle of the street) if you block traffic, a cop will stop you. Don't try to 'bum rush' and threaten cops...they have guns. Gort
The undercover folk were right to stop him and question him. $350 is a lot for a black man to afford. The key question is "where the hell did he get the money from?"
The posh department store in NY may be actually racially profiling black customers making expensive purchases and there were other cases similar to Trayon Christian's, who used all the money he had to buy a designer belt commonly worn by musicians. Michael Brown may also have been in a similar situation before he was killed and the store owner in Ferguson needs to be investigated as well, who was responsible for creating the situation for the unarmed teenager to be shot by making it a police matter.
Michael Brown was a common criminal. The video evidence is there to see. Trayon Christian was a potential criminal, which is why he was stopped, cuffed and questioned. Once it was established that he was not what all too many of his kind in expensive shops are, he was released.
People are not concerned about the "world" being racist, just want the ones that are, to admit it, so people can move on. This thread is tagged for when conservatives have another brain fart and claim racism is not prevalent anymore....

I hope the folks at The Onion realize, that in retrospect, their little white guilt race bait satire has totally backfired. I hope they feel incredibly stupid and actually start to think, rather than issue Pavlovian responses like the good little programmed lefties that they are.

So a racist shooting someone down in the street is worse than a non-racist shooting someone down in the street ? I don't see a lot of difference, myself. But the comment was people "moving on", once others admit to being racist.... not "shooting down".

OK then, let those who are marching and shouting to convict the officer be the first to stand down. They are the ones exhibiting racism, not the officer. BTW, Any 300 lb thug (of ANY color) who steals from a store and bullies the defenseless shop-owner, then decides to block traffic by walking down the middle of the street, then attacks a police officer, then shoves a police officer back in his car and tries to grapple for the officer's gun, then tries to 'bum-rush' said officer has brought the crap down on himself.

The owners of the Ferguson Market & Liquor store then came out with keys and tried to prevent the suspect from leaving the store and a confrontation ensured and a customer called 911 to report robbery.
