May be at international level Matteo Renzi is not a so known politician. After being Mayor of Florence now [not elected, but "imposed" by the Democrat Party after conquering the secretary of the party] he is the Italian Prime Minister.

His approach to politics is absolutely surprising from a left leaning Italian politician. It's more common for right leaning, overall for Berlusconi's followers. I'm talking about the politics of image and communication.

He was born in 1975 and actually he doesn't come from the Communist world, but from the Popular environment [former Democrat Christian party and so a central political movement], he sustained Prodi [for who remembers that EU President who has gone to work as professor and adviser in China]. He made something in TV and it's clear that he is part of the TV generation, the Italian generation who grew up with the commercial private TV [and this is why he looks like Berlusconi in many aspects].

Anyway, his main model is Kennedy [and Fonzie!], a conception of liberal left [pay attention that "liberal" in Italy is a word which indicates a center position, not a left position] with a great effort to cultivate communication and direct contact with the electorate.

So far, in these few months, his government has done quite well [reducing taxes on job, for example], showing a certain capacity to decide and to manage complicated plans and policies.

But it's still well early. Now he is enjoying his EU presidency and then he will have to deal with the economical balance of the Italian State and that will be the mined field where he could face the real troubles [the expenses laws in our Republic are a kind of battle field for the parties who sustain the government who want to grant advantages to their "clients" and lobbies].

The effect of such a young and dynamic Prime Minister here is remarkable, I wonder which is the effect abroad ...
