Is it just me or are you tired of PC? View attachment 29575 WINOOSKI, Vt. (AP) A Vermont restaurant that removed a bacon advertisement called insensitive to vegans and Muslims is being criticized for doing so. Sneakers Bistro and Cafe in Winooski last week took down a sign saying "Yield for Sneakers Bacon" after comments were posted in an online community forum by "a vegan and a member of a Muslim household." Vegans and Muslims don't eat pork. http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/vermont-bistro-scolded-removing-its-bacon-sign
So what are you upset about? It's a business reacting to the market. They didn't like the advertisement, they got rid of it.
but wasn't the market media based . and they had to give in to the emotional cult minded ones or else suffer a lot of profit lost
The First Amendment extends to bacon and the selling of it. 9/11 trumps the of an alien muslin. A sampling of local feedback includes: "Stop pandering to Muslims! This is still America! WE like our democracy served with a side of bacon!!!!" Stop caving to Muslim demands. We are Americans. We need to stand for our rights. What a shame an AMERICAN business is bowing down just to keep a bunch of dang muslims happy. We eat pork and if muslims don't like it then there are plenty of countries they can go live in. Pack up and MOVE."
No, I just don't like ham. - - - Updated - - - Okay and? A business can say what it wants to. Doesn't mean it can say everything. Why? The market tells it what to say because it listens to its consumers. Saying stuff that they don't like drives customers away.
Oh dear god. Muslims: dont eat there if it offends you. Define irony: its not even real bacon. Its homeade turkey bacon.
Removing a sign, because people who wouldn't even frequent your establishment in the first place complained, is hardly reacting to the market.
It was 1 complaint....from 1 woman...who probably doesn't eat there anyway. And they caved. 1 complaint. Cowards.
Seriously. Pathetic. What I want to know is how so many Muslims ended up in Winooski, Vermont?? - - - Updated - - - This is no different than Christians getting all bent out of shape when a new pornography shop opens up down the street...
How is it even relevant how many Muslims are in this town? Your pornshop comparison is a tad bit silly as well.
Its there business they can do whatever they want. I think there most likely will be a backlash and they will end up putting it back up or find some middle road.
Don't you understand? These are Right Wingers. They believe people should have liberty to do anything they want except disagree with them. You can't even NOT be a bigot if you want to. It's UnAmerican NOT to hate muslims.
Granted caving to THAT complaint was stupid, Muslims aren't politically strong enough to get away with that sort of bullying, you need to be black or gay to get way with pushing one complaint into a national issue...
Come on, even those on the left can be bigots. That being said I have never seen one, but I know they exist.
Yes it is. It's reacting to the bad publicity that it gives. You don't always want negative publicity.
What negative publicity? It was a freaking sign for bacon. It was not an intentional slur. It was not an intentional disrespect. It was an advertisement for a restaurant. Just because some individual got butthurt from seeing the sign does not mean the sign was bad. I think that being tolerant of the feelings of other is important, but there is a point where it becomes ridiculous. This is way past that point. I would bet this restaurant has had more business since this hit the media than they have had all year. There is nothing like media overkill to make an unknown business nationally known overnight.
